Most of my days in work are 12 / 13 hours out of the house so on the train home I sometimes try and have a short sleep in the hope that when I get home I feel refreshed and run. However I find that having a 'power nap' makes me wake feeling groggy and more lethargic - as if I just want to go back to sleep, so I try to avoid now. Do they work for you?

apparantley 25 mins is the optimum time to nap and then when woken up you will function the same as if you had a hours.....
though you should set qan alarm kev so that you actualy wake up..you wouldn't want to wake up in Pembroke or somewhere else remote
i dont feel that great right after a nap, but if i do (i try to avoid them) i wont sleep that night, so they help me stay up later if i have things to do that night.
my OH swears by them RK but ive heard 20 mins is the max. anything over and the body doesnt 'rest'.
Yes power naps work for me. When I used to commute I usually had a nap on the train home and felt better for it.
If I'm going out in the evening and have had a long day, then 30mins to an hour in bed helps even if I'm not actually asleep all that time.
yes that usually helps me aswell!! but were on the subject of power naps here CB
Yup, they work for me. My sleep is often interrupted and if I have an early shift the first thing I do when I get home is onto the sofa, half-hour power nap. I can manage the rest of the day without one but I do get a bit grumpy. And I can always doze off after lunch regardless of when I got up.

It's clear that different things work for different people. For example, if I can sleep for literally 2 minutes, I feel refreshed. But if I were to lay on the bed for 30 minutes without 'losing myself', then that is pretty useless. I'll just feel 30 minutes more tired!
i'm an expert napper. here's a tip: have a coffee immediately before your nap. the caffeine takes at least 20mins to kick in. so when you wake up you will feel bright and breeze and not groggy.
my grandfather always said 'if you get an opportunity to sleep...take it'.
the same can also be said for having a run/sex
I work shifts and don't sleep well so permantely tired. I can have a power nap and it does refresh me. I have to take sleep any time I can get it.
Power naps are awesome! Have started having them since I was about 30! (Is that too young?!) If your body is tired then don't fight it I say!
