Ever since I first saw Captain Pugwash in 197x I've felt that one day this pirate living inside me might force its way out and force me to walk the plank. In the end actually it forced me to walk most of the marathon in IM Austria in July 2012. I'd had a chat with a couple of pirates (real Pirates, meaning PSoFers) during a marathon earlier in the year and liked them, and being the type that loves the idea of being part of something but doesn't like the idea of joining anything (although joining in with anything is something else entirely) it seemed like PSoF might be able to offer me a haven. This year I'm in for Challenge Copenhagen (2nd attempt at 140.6) - are there any Pirates out there also down for Denmark?

Greetings earthling
Feel free to jump aboard!!!
There may be one or two down for Denmark, most of us will be around the Henley/Wales/Lanza/Nottingham mark this year, we seem to be a bit spread out but feel free to join any of the threads that take your fancy !!!
Cheers - that I will. I'm also down for Henley, but the half, should see some of you there then nonetheless. In the meantime I'll idle away surfing through the fora and maybe ogling some kit . And doing some training if it isn't too cold/windy/rainy and there's no decent football/rugby/cricket on telly and Mrs has no other plans for us.
welcome
psof intro for newbie wannabe pirates
If anyone wants to update the above let me know......
Bokster, did i mention that a sense of humor is essential.
There is also a forum ignore button that can be useful at times.
Hi Bokster, welcome to the forum, ignore the idiotic comment above, im afraid we have suffer the occasional spammers/troll.
Not sure if anyone is doing Copenhagen this year but there are a good few of us at Oulaw, Wales, Lanzarote and Challenge Henley.
We'll be back in Austria for 2015 if you fancy going back for a rematch. Not sure anyones made any plans for next year yet.
Dont mention it
There's ALWAYS room for more aboard!
A couple of us did Copenhagen the year before last, myself included. Happy to chat to you about it via this thread (or another) if you would like to. It's a lovely race.
After the non-wetsuit swim (I'm a bad swimmer) and then scorching bike and run of Austria 2012 I thought I'd try and go a bit easier on myself in 2013 - so chose Copenhagen based on the presumption that it will be almost certainly wetsuit swim, fairly very certainly not pushing 100 degrees and absolutely certainly no big hills on the bike (although hills and me are beginning to develop an understanding). But also based on reported massive levels of support, on the run at least - was that your experience Mouse?
Wore my new pirate kit with pride at the weekend for the first time on the evans ride it 50 mile event out of Harewood house in Leeds. The blinding yellow kept me safe and I was quizzed by a cyclist whom had entered a 70.3 in Majorca and wondered if I ''was one of those pirates mentioned in that Andy Holgate book''
Good to be part of something wider, welcome bokster!!
The original pirates should have set it up as some kind of pyramid scheme........they would be rich by now
[checks bank account] wellllll..............as it happens....
