Hello,
I realise this post may be a bit late but was hoping for some advice on where to stay in London which is convienient for the Excel centre to register and for the race day itself. I will be travelling on the Saturday & leaving for Shropshire (home) on the Sunday after the race. Any and all advice welcome. Thank you
Martin

Registering at Excel isn't too bad either - its all on the train from the city centre too.
Thanks for all the above but has anyone got any hotel recomendations?
Is it right you can travel free of charge on underground on race day?
Thanks again
martin
But as you still haven't got in, It would hardly bother you
Travel Lodge Docklands or Travel lodge City Airport are we have stayed when doing it over the years.. But they will have sold out in November....
I think the underground is only free after the race!
Nope Free when you produce your number
Yes the train is free to the start - at charging cross te numbers are so big that it couldn't work with out of towners trying to buy tickets on the morning.
thanks again to all.
not having used the rail links in London much, what is the best station to get to to be able to access the start at Greenwich Park. How far is it to walk from the station?
Also getting to the Excel to register, which is the best station to get off at?
Martin
The DLR station at the Excel is usually the best one to get off at...........
As for access to Greenwich park, Rather depends on which start you are on
Suggest you have a good read of the VLM website and then come back if you haven't found the answers
Excel the best station is Custom House.
Charing cross. You don't need to worry what stop to get off. It's all in your info pack you get when you register.
We always stay in Premier Inn greenwich or Novotel, they do bump up prices but very convenient, leisurley breakfast then easy walk to start in about 20 mins.Easy to come back after race train from Charring Cross Train station about 15 mins. Travel on marathon day is free if you have your race number on.
Book your tickets now from home, they are cheap at the moment but will go up closer to the date,we got 2 return Monday to Friday from West Wales for £58 for 2 adults..
Greenwich is also good for spectating if you have friends with you.
That would be "Custom House for the Excel" ?
Call me odd (You're odd Dave), But if I was travelling to the 2nd largest exhibtion arena in the UK to register for the VLM to find my way there I would :-
a) Look on the VLM site
b) See if the Excel has a web site with a "How to get here" tab
c) Look at the TFL tube map (which is a misnomer as the Excel is on the DLR)
