This looks likes being a very popular and unique event. It will the only chance for people to run the Olympic Mountain bike course. Numbers are strictly limited to 300 so it will sell out fast.
An exclusive opportunity to test your stamina and endurance on one of the iconic venues of the London 2012 Games – the Mountain Bike circuit used in both the men’s and women’s Olympic Mountain Bike competitions. The venue is currently closed to the public and this pilot 10k run offers a unique chance to test the course and assess its suitability as a race location. Numbers are strictly limited and places are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
This will be a challenging but enjoyable off-road 10k using some of the MTB course, footpaths and trails set within the grounds of Hadleigh Castle and which proved such a tough test for the Olympians in the summer of 2012. Suitable for runners of all standards.

I reckon this one will sell out before Christmas so get in quick. This area is not open to the public at all and in Feb 13 they will start building work on the course to make it a lot easier, so this could be the only chance to run the actual Olympic course.
I better start training I saw some of those climbs on the TV ! Who said Essex was flat ?
Events should be advertised in the Events section, rather than in the forum.
Have run cross country at Hadleigh many times over the years - should be a good event.
You are right Grendel3 should be good and something a bit different but very tough !
The event will be online just as soon as somebody at Runners World flicks the switch!!
Details have been submittted to them - we're just waiting .....
sent mine in by post
I've entered online vis RW website and it took my money, so i hope its working.
Hope you have done plenty of hill training Paul
Online entries are now being taken - so your money is safe Paul!
Are there still places left for this ? Or can I enter on the day ?
Thanks
There are still places, a friend of mine has entered today.
Thanks
Hi Victor
There are still entries available either online or by post - at this stage though we cannot promise that on the day entries will be available. The entry list is filling up quickly and there's a fair chance the race will be full.
Martin Burke
Race Director
Is there a sign up list for this anywhere as Im sure I have entered with my son by post some time ago but havent received any numbers yet and I need to confirm my places
Stlaang - if you'd like to drop me an email at martin@nice-work.org.uk I can conform if we've received your entry. Numbers and race instructions will be mailed out next week - we're just awaiting delivery of the race numbers.
On a separate note we carried out a further course inspection this morning. Although it wasnt drenched it is almost certain that the course will be muddy on race day. The course itself is a true multi terrain one - we will be using the concrete road, some grass footpaths and quite a bit of the mountain bike track used in the 2012 games. These tracks are a mix of loose gravel and hard track - and our advice would probably be to use trail shoes and certainly not spikes.
More information on the course will be included in the race instructions.
Is it laps? And when/how will the race instructions be sent out?
Many thanks
@theurbanspartan
Hi David.
The race is two laps.
Your entryw as made quite late but youn should have received your race instructions by email.
This Sunday's Hadleigh 2012 Legacy 10k should go ahead as planned.
Read here about our weather contingency arrangements.
looking forward to entering again next year.
cheers, Samantha
There are some on the Castle Point Joggers facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/castlepointjoggers
Hi Charlotte
Good luck. It is very tough. I would recommend lots of off road hill training on Hadleigh Downs if you live that way and as its in January could be very muddy. It was last year and lot of people got caught out with the wrong shoes (road) so go for some trail / studs.
