Hi all,
I'm looking to upgrade my Garmin Forerunner 405 GPS watch to one that’s compatible with swimming.
I'm doing some Triathlons this year so any advice on waterproof GPS watches would be awesome, ideally Garmin as I upload all my training to a website that supports them.
Thanks
Cotterill

The 910XT seems to get universal praise.

I love my 910XT not cheap, but good
Wow.... the 910XT is mega bucks! Just been shopping around and the best price I can find is just shy of £300... is that about right?
check out the 310XT which is the 910s predecessor - c£200 new but there should be plenty around on places like ebay from those who have upgraded.
310 is good, but doesn't do any swim analysis like the 910.
Look on ebay for a deal, loads bought the 910 for Tri and get rid of them after a year, could pick up for around £220, maybe cheaper if you don't require HRM
The 310Xt and 910XT are the only Garmin watches that are waterproof to 50 metres all the other Garmin Forerunners are only IPX7 rated. That's 1 metre for 30 minutes. http://bit.ly/WbsSne for more details of waterproof ratings.
There is a 310XT on Amazon for £190. type in product code B007O40NPC, or one without the sensor for £169 B0025VKW5K. You should be able to use the sensor from your 405.
Will my heart rate monitor and ANT stick from my 405 work with the newer Garmins? If that's the case then I'll just keep them and just buy the 910XT watch on it's own.
Hi,
Shouldn't be an issue. The ANT+ and sensors can be used with all the range. You just need to pair them when you set it all up with the new watch. http://hrm-reviews.com/garmin-forerunner-910xt-heart-rate-monitor/
