  • Morning. A frosty start here.

What:               either a MLR or a LSR
Why:                will depend on how it all feels once I'm out
    Last hard:        24/2
    Last rest:         23/2

    Lyrics - yes.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Morning

I know the lyrics love the singer but this song  always makes me cry

    Bed now

    hello all,
    great MLR there postie
OH - I couldn't face that sort of journey to race more than once in a blue moon...would love the 4 day (or better still 3 day) week though...if only I could afford it!
yesterday turned into a non event...work got in the way of lunchtime run, and club AGM straight from work. Then had to collect youngest on the way home from swimming meant I was indoors at 9.20. Run or eat?....the belly won.
Today however should have the 2hr window as eldest has hockey, so hopefully something long and steady...
why - I think I'm going to run a marathon
last rest - from running yesterday, from running around, friday
    last hard - Tuesday
    lyric - dont think so

  • WaboWabo ✭✭✭

    morning all

birkmyre, oh love these lyrics but have gone all goose bumpy...

    Pammie yep me too!

lmh run well whichever you choose

9 miles went to schedule last night, cant ask for more!

    what: 4 miles fartlek

    why: schedule

last hard: kings head hill in chingford last night

    last easy: monday

    have a good day all

possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can
  • What: JS group tonight
    Why: it's Thursday
    Last hard: Sunday
    last rest: Monday

    lyrics no

Weather now broken with grey moist morning

  • Wabo - Good luck with the half

Postie - That's some speedy stuff there, what's the mara target?

Cautious as planned on the track yesterday.  800 reps off 90, so I did two easy at 3:25 which were OK; then 2 quicker at 3:15, also OK so a mile cool down and job done.

Track proper this afternoon, but still playing it safe as thigh not fully OK, complete quad stretch is a defninite no-go area!

    Afternoon

    What: flying to England image
Why: dress fitting for my bridesmaid dress and then the hen do
Last hard: trying to fit everything into hand luggage.
Lyrics: Yes, I love this song.

OH wow that is some commitment for racing!
    Chicka 5 mm, if only!

Going to try a run tomorrow and try and get to a parkrun on Saturday (have my bar code in the suitcase!).  Hope I'll have time.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

  • Legs said 'oh go on then, seeing as you asked so nicely' - 21 miles run in a beautiful morning with the last mile being the fastest.

Sounds as though the schedule is going well Wabo.

Hope you get some me time today Dustin.

    Sleep well Pammie.

    Have a great weekend emzap.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Great running, LMH image

    Enjoy the hen do, emzap

    OH:
kayaking course sounds interesting! I'd be terrified of those rolls image. Knowing my own clumsiness I'd probably drown ...

40: sounds like the legs are ok again - 3:15 is good for 800s

Pammie/wabo: had my fair share of falling over too ...  if only the winter would go away image

    what: 15 mile MLR d&d  - split it into 6 x 2.5 miles. Plan was warm-up/steady/MP/steady/MP/cool-down. Worked out as 8:41-- 8:17 -- 7:40 -- 8:01 -- 7:42 -- 7:56. Crikey, I so didn't expect that, but priddy pleased how easy the faster running felt image.
    why: slow MLRs are booooring
    last hard: Sunday
    last rest: Monday
    lyrics: yep, great song!

  • Afternoon, and a beautiful one at that!

Some decent running going on, but not here...

What: 6k walked, off road, undulating,
Why: didn't feel that I could trust my "good" calf, so didn't!

    Lyrics: googled, I'm afraid!

Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • Afternoon! Seems you have different weather on the other side of the Channel! Mainly overcast, still a cold wind biting from the north, though no longer freezing (by daytime).

    Nice LSR from LMH.

Dustin: that sort of happened to me yesterday, too. I made up for it today, fortunately. It will make tomorrow's stair session erm... interesting.

What: 5.3M whichever way I got round (mainly running)

    Why: didn't do it yesterday

    Last hard: Tuesday

    Last rest: Wednesday

    Lyrics: yes!

  • Nice speed chickadeee! What's the target this time round?

Hope tomorrow's stair session isn't too interesting Tinebeest.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Nice session this early evening after work.

1 mile warm up followed by 6 x 3 mins fast with 2 mins recovery.  In each of the 3 mins, I ran an average of 0.5 miles, each one being just a 10th over or under.  Good consistency.  Pleased with the pace and the shorter recovery.  1 mile warm down too, making 5 in total.  Looking forward to the rest tomorrow again image

  • Evening

    What 7.64 with hills
    Why Thursdayas = hills
    Lyrics no

40 mins aiming for 2:50ish preferably under

Odd day cycled in and ran home. Run in next two days, cycle home Saturday (1.7 miles only).

    Hi all,

Finished early todat, so did what one should do in the daylight... and has a Half on Sunday and in Mara training... = long run... yeap... 17m D&D image

Feeling tired but good.... (and very hungry)

  • RFJ - nice long mid week run!

Little Miss Happy - congrats on your half marathon PB!

Tom - I see you sneaked in to say hello - what are you up to? Are you running?

alehouse - 6km is still 6km - it wasn't that long ago that you couldn't do anything.

chickadee - your marathon training is going really well - good on you!

emzap - enjoy your time in England.

    40 minutes - nice speedwork.

wabo - you're doing really well with your marathon training too!

Dustin - you have a really busy schedule - hope there is enough time to fit a marathon inimage

    birkmyre - lovely song!

    What: 16km

Why: Trying to catch up - had the stitches out of my face on Tuesday.

  • Glad you're back running NZC - I was thinking of you on my run today.

    Nice consistency donaldo.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Evening all,

NZC - glad you're on the mend. Well done on 16k.

LMH - my word, you must have asked your legs very nicely indeed!

Chickadee - very nice long slow mid-week run there too.  Well done!

40min - hope quads managed whatever you decided to do tonight.

Me? Left things a bit late so had a short run - only 3 miles, but included 10 short sharkie bits, and that was about right - tired, but not so tired that I felt feeble for the rest of theday.  I rather like that exercise - it's about the only time I make my legs go fast.  Very short strides as I seem to have groin/hip issues at the moment.  They hurt worst at night, so almost certainly pd related.  Tomorrow I'm aiming to do a modest dose of hill.

    Go well all.

  • 6 miles done with JS group - even persuaded them along an unlit path tonight!

  • Excellent form being demonstrated by all concerned today. Is there a full moon?

    Swim session. Proper one.
As LMH noted, you can plod along all you like, and then something clicks and you make progress. Today was another progress day.
    16L = 400m= 10:05 without trying
    64L = Mile= 41:39 PB by about 2 minutes.
    100L= 2.5km= 65:35 PB
I started off the session trying to be ultra smooth and breathing every 3rd stroke. Amazingly I actually managed to get decent air on my unfavoured left side. That alone would have been considered to be progress. But I'm counting lengths because they all count, so reverted to RHS breathing only.
I do need to keep doing this sort of session, because it's what will build up the feeble arm muscles, and I need to do this plus 50%, with it all feeling under control. I was a bit tired around the 80 mark to be honest.
    Happy swimbler.
