champagne is a british invention and claifornia makes the best wine these days.
dress better? since when? thats very subjective but i guess they dont have this new epidemic of people going into town/tesco etc dressed in a onsey or their PJ's... but if you exclude the pond life,
Everywhere I go in Europe it's fair to say that Children, Teenagers and Adults are better behaved than we are. Don't know what it is, we assume a superiority but in real terms we are miles behind them in every way.
As for the food we are the world's best at processing food not a title we should be proud of.

A better attitude towards alcohol probably plays a big part in it, particularly in southern Europe.
Alcohol apart, good manners are the most important, I have never seen such polite people under any circumstances (Business or pleasure) as the Portugese. It is ingrained upon them from an early age that you're measured more on your politeness above anything else.
I actually prefer English brie to French brie de meaux, which is a bit mothbally for my taste. Otherwise (apart from proper mature cheddar, which there is no adequate French equivalent for) they probably have more variety of really good cheese than us. They are absolutely f***ing rubbish at savoury snacks like crisps, though (and this in spite of the fact that having an aperitif with savoury nibbles at around 5-6pm is practically mandatory), and despite their cheese prowess, have yet to develop essential accompaniments such as (a) oatcakes and (b) chutney.

Horsemeat.
Blessed are the cheesemakers
Did the white flag not stand out so clearly as your avatar?

Who by? The French themselves presumably. "Quelle suprise!"
I certainly agree with Marc that British cheese is much better than French, especially blue cheese.
Ye cannae whack a good Stilton! We don't however do a good brie or camembert. And if your kids don't behave, threaten to take them on Jezza!
Do you live in France or have you spent a lot of time there to confirm these assumptions for us?

Great lovers - they don't shower too often
Great bread makers - of course they are
Great Cheese makers - no better than us
Great Wine makers - they just got a head start they are not the best any more
Dress well - not any better than anyone else
Better than English - better behaved but then isn't everyone
Being a Newcastle fan I have had to review my policy to all things French.

Wey aye man them french are magic football players, but.

The British have usurped the French in terms of cheese quality and production. I rate Italian cheese over French anyway.
However, I've rarely been disappointed by a French film.
