My friends are having a huge beer weekend related to St. Patrick's celebration (we are not Irish however)
My first 10k is this Sunday, my friend's party is Saturday which I wont go, but some of them want me to go to a club for a couple of beers on Friday.
Could I have a couple of "lite" beers, I mean two or three and go home about midnight?
I really want to go.

depends what you're aiming for, if you thrash it and have been on beer the night before it won't be comfortable, but if you're taking it easy out on the Friday night it shouldn't matter too much on the Sunday unless you're aiming at winning
it's your first 10k... so a PB is looming already! Take it easy and enjoy. It's all about balance. Hyrdate the morning after and don't get wrecked - but you already knew that
Show some discipline man! My Guinness 4 pack will remain unopened until 5 minutes after completing my half marathon on Sunday morning.

A guy in my club ran a 2:57 marathon after sinking 7 pints of real ale the night before.
He was also 63 years old.
🙂
I ran my 10K PB (34:57) two days after being so drunk I got a black eye and couldn't remember how I got it.
brilliant! is this to support 'Yes do it' or 'No don't do it' though?
I ran a 10k pb a couple of hours after a nice lunch of mussels and wine
I hate him already!
I'll happily have a couple the night before, even if it's a big race. The night before the night before, my general rule would be not to drink so much that it affects my penultimate sleep, or gives me a noticeable hangover the next day. So three or four, no probs. Depends on your tolerance, really!
a very small shandy for me, then!
Thank you all. I had a couple of beers, not a big deal.
Race is in about 9 hours. Wish me luck
No harm in a having a Pint the evening before a race.It might even be beneficial in relaxing pre race nerves
