There aren't any that spring to mind but I do have a pathological hatred of cover versions - except for "Hurt by Johnny Cash which was better than the original.
I always find with covers that I prefer the one I hear first.I'm probably the only one who prefers All Saints version of Under the bridge, rather than the Red Hot Chilli peppers one.
I find their stuff all to sound the same and a right old dirge.

All those latter day Johnny cash covers are superb. The reason I hate Echo beach so much is that it's supposed to be so cool...Celine and Whitney and their ilk are all so cheesey anyway.
I wouldn't call any of the songs listed above 'classics'. I think of classics as songs like I Heard It Through The Grapevine, Dock of the Bay, My Girl, Sex Machine, One Nation Under A Groove etc etc.
The ones listed above are just popular with certain people.
And I-eeeee-I-eeeee-I will always love yoooooo-ooooooooooo-oooooo...
lazy singing, the trick is to hold a long note and make interesting, or if you can't, wobble about all over the shop and the gullible might think it's 'interpretation'.
Anything by Frank Sinatra, the man could drain the life out of any tune and totally agree about Queen an 80's Accountant's idea of rock.
Whitney Houston's song that can't be named actually makes me angry and violent with every listen.and is responsible for nearly 20 odd years of trilling and warbling masquerading as emotion in singing.
What's that led zep song with the breakdown where RP does all that whooping and warbling, copying the guitar riffs? That gets on my tits.
Bohemian Rhapsody too, though I like some of their other stuff.
Bon Jovi's entire catalogue, if any of those could be described as classics.
I notice I keep coming up with Rock titles, as this is where the term 'classic' is most often used (as opposed to great pop, dance anthem, or influential jazz etc): usually by Jeremy Clarkson style dullards, to whom 'driving music' is an actual genre.
Classic hip hop - Chubb Rock - that's a bit irritating.
Comments

Anything by Whitney Houston, especially that one.
Smarm, and from a different era, but Inoffensive and catchy, nothing to hate there
Ah yes, melisma, about as much use to music as a prostitute is to the pope.

I Hate hate hate the Eye of the Tiger
In fact most mainstream songs from the 80s
I love ABBA tho
I thought it was just me that hates that song. I usually scream with horror whenever I hear the introduction. It's torture!
So true. I can't believe that there are people that actually think she sings it better than Judy Garland!
+1. Just makes me want to reach for the razor blades. All her stuff does
