Thanks Gaz, read some reviews & decided to enter. Assuming it wasn't too awful if you're giving it another chance. I'm hoping to get a mara pb this year, & as it's flat was hoping this might be the one
A lot of the problems, though preventable, were made a lot worse by the weather. It was the first time for the race so I'm hoping with the team behind it having a bit more experience and the weather hopefully being better it will be OK.
Its def. a PB course and thats the big attraction for me as well.
Finished the Bolton Hill Marathon on Sunday but now I'm off the hills and back on the roads to prepare for Manchester. It could be harder on the legs without the steep and rocky stretches that forced me to walk on Sunday but looking forward to it.
Go for it Joe, I have been reassured that things have changed and it looks like they have. No industrial estates Nick W4 so should be quality. Finishes outside the best stadium in the UK too!!!
I did it last year. I have to say I was ashamed as a Mancunian, it was a pathetic attempt at a marathon. Yes the weather was dreadful but the organisation and route (under pass near finish and some cross country) was much worse.
I hope they stick to their promise and take 'all' the complaints on board.
Bupa Manchester 10k could teach them a lot of lessons. That is a class event!
was so looking forward to this marathon & hoping for a GFA, unfortunately I have to bow out with an achllies injury, good luck to all of you running this marathon.
Just got number through yesturday so starting to get nervous now! Last long run this coming Sunday so any last minute tips/advice. Hoping to better last years 3:30 at Sunderland though as it sounds flatter.
Tiny request - if you are doing Manchester on the 28th April would you please consider participating in my study which you can find on the Spring marathon thread as MSc Research Project requires marathon runners - no electrodes!
It's about using a positively focused self-talk technique to increase your resilience and positive affect (that's the strong positive moods that you can control).
It is straightforward and might just provide an additional tool to conquer the mental aspects of tackling a marathon.
Hi all, looking forward to race now with less than three weeks to go! Is it just me or is it just the post; haven't seen my race details & numbers through the post yet. Is anyone else in a similiar position?

Long story Joe, things didn't go smoothly last year and the weather was awful but it is very flat.I'm giving it another go.

Well done invisible man, hope Manchester is easier than Bolton sounds.
Manchester will be much easier and the weather can't be that bad 2 years in a row...can it?

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has a number they would like to sell. I missed out on an entry this year
Iain - you can still enter yourself, there are places left in the marathon.

Still not sure if I'm going to be running, but haven't received race pack yet either.
I am very surprised the organisers have been allowed to stage another event after the shambles of last year
