Thanks for that Iain, now you've got me really depressed. Haven't ran for nearly a month due to illness and it's really getting me down. Going to try a comeback tomorrow, have no fitness at the moment and i'm struggling when teaching classes at work. No energy levels and feeling run down.
Cant be long to Paris for you and others on this forum as well. Hows the training going? Tapper started?
Hope you are feeling better soon David. I had 7 weeks out at the beginning of the year so needless to day Paris training has not gone to plan But nevermind I will make the start.....and finish somehow!!!
David - sorry to hear you've not shaken it yet. There is plenty of time for your recovery, and knowing you, you'll bounce back stronger.
The other way to look at it is, you're still struggling because your body's not yet recovered. If you push on through illness, chances are you'll do yourself proper damage. So take it easy. Although, I also appreciate this probably doesn't fit with your job plan!
What Kaz said... 2 weeks. My Paris prep has been poor, I'm more looking forward to the RW meet-ups than the race.
Orbutt- that's why we all get on so well on this thread. Can't wait till the thread really starts to get going when the Berlin training starts for ernest.
Started the come back this week after a few weeks out by ratteling out 1 x 5 mile and 2 x 4 mile all averaging 7:30 a mile, so a bit pleased with that.
Hope everyone has a good Easter and for the Paris guys remember it's tapper time.
its going to be a strange one for me training for berlin this year, im used to training for belfast in may, so from jan-may, and then easing off in the summer to 5ks/10ks and some track work, but wondering when berlin marathon specific training should start again for me over summer...looking forward to berlin at this stage, 20 degrees sounds brilliant to me now after all this snow and cold weather we've been having, but i suppose a marathon in that heat would take its toll!!
Hi Guys, I am new to this thread and haven't posted since I ran Brighton in 2010, fractured my hip that year, so was out for 2 years, but am back and have run two marathons, Florence in November (great run, can highly recommend it) and Miami in January. Am running Edinburgh in May and Berlin in September, should have run it last year but got injured in July and got too far behind with training. Am looking forward to being part of this thread and hearing more tips for Berlin!!
Like the majority of the guys on this thread (Paris guys) you are doing a spring Marathon, so your fitness levels should carry over into your Berlin schedule, unlike me who is starting from scratch due to illness.
If you look through this thread you might pick up some of the answers to any questions you may have regarding Berlin, if not just ask as we have a few Berlin veterans on board
Just started tapering for London before I can then get really excited about Berlin. Really can't wait, flying from Manchester on the fri coming back on Monday. Did Chester last oct andvh thread was excellent, good to see this is just as great. Love runners, always a nice bunch
I had an amazing time DW, so much fun!!! The support group was amazing,as was the champagne I nicked of some supporter at mile 10.......As you can tell I wasnt taking things tooooo seriously!!!

Hope you're back to fighting fitness soon David.
Cheers,

Oh yeah, and as of today, I'm doing Marine Corps Marathon 4 weeks after Berlin...
Crazy decision.
Can't wait!
However, anyone who runs a marathon must be a bit bonkers anyway

DW20 - if you want a taste of the madness to come head over to the Paris Marathon 2013 one. It's in full taper madness flow.

2 weeks today till Paris
David - are you sure it's 2 weeks? What Paris marathon are you doing? The rest of us are doing the one next sunday the 7th.
Phew, thought I'd run into a Paris runner that was going to have a complete breakdown as they thought it was two weeks away rather than one.
Greetings Sir John. Ah, the madness Tapir is heading in your direction. The Paris thread is in full madness at the moment.
Are your flights via Frankfurt too?
It's so peaceful and quiet in here.
It's like a chill out room at a rave (like I've ever been to either)
Now to head back to the banging beats, pulsing lights and incessant lists in the Paris forum.
I'll be back.
Wishing all the Paris Marathoners a great race...and party well!!!
Paris = TICK. BRING ON BERLIN!!!!
How did Paris go guys?
and you still came in sub-4 with a PB!! you are a mad woman!
Sounds like you guys had a blast. I watched it on sky+ when I came home from work on Sunday, looks like a really good course.
