Fastest route to the Expo from the airport (and it also works from the Gare du Nord) is RER line B (the blue one) to Cite Universitaire, leave the station, get the tram from the stop outside straight to Port de Versailles for the Expo. If you buy a carnet as suggested above, those tickets are also valid on the tram, but don't forget to stamp them in the stamping machine when you get on board.
ok so the possible dash across paris from CDG to the Expo at 6 on Saturday has got to me and I've changed my flight. Can't wait to turn up at the Expo with my suitcase! Now on the 8.40 from Manchester.....
Off to sit in a steam room to kill any possible cold viruses. My knee just survived playing football with my nephew on Sunday. What was i thinking? Full on taper madness here.......
Looking at things I might get the Paris Pass as will be going back to the airport to meet Mrs Trev on the Sunday and planning to go Disney on the Tuesday so probably works out cheaper.
Came back here for some comfort as I'm struggling with taper madness only to find everyone else is the same!
I guess that's comforting in itself. Good luck with the final prep everyone. After struggling with injuries and manflu during the campaign, I have no idea what time I'll do from the yellow pen but as long as injuries stay away for the first half (20 miles), I'll be happy to deal with whatever the second half (6.2 miles) throws up.
Final run tonight and then time to pack, unpack, repack, do some more fretting.
Loch Ness is on my list too. Thanks for the Baxters plug Keysersuzi. (They pay my wages and therefore fund all my marathon 'holidays')
I have just photocopied all my documents, twice, so I have three copies of each. One copy for each bag. Just in case. And scanned them all and emailed them to myself. Just in case..... Bloody hell.
And all my leg muscles are so tight they should live in Aberdeen. (No offence Clagg)
Trev - I think the tickets cover zones 1-3 (City centre ish) but if you're going to the airport and Disney then you probably would be better with passes which cover them both. For info though, as long as you are within the valid zones, you can use your carnet on RER trains too.
Stan - good move switching flights, you would have been cutting it really fine otherwise.
Yes - what Orbutt said. The standard tickets are valid for travel in the central zones on the Metro, RER and trams (and I assume buses too, although I've never been on a bus in Paris). You will need a separate ticket to get in from the airport though because it's out in zone 5.
Nerves are getting to me now, I've opened the case and made the list :
Socks - three pairs (can't decide)
Long leggings - only going with one pair
Top - new with name on not long sleeved either
Crap top to chuck when I get to start line - I will be baking hot by then!!
Bra top - two - just in case
Gloves - two pairs - just in case
Baseball cap - never leave home without it
hair ties - several - they always PING when I'm stressing on Race morning
Safety pins - a lot
Drinks - four bottles
Tablets/nibbles / Jelly babes - heaps
Running bottle - must clean it...
Paperwork - needs a suitcase all to itself
Trainers - need cleaning once I've run today
Glasses - two pairs - one for running, one for looking like a normal person
Other clothing to wear before and after
Nice smelling things to use in shower after
I think that's me....
Thanks for words of comfort re vet - sadly it's not going to be nice later today.....
Sun is out, it's glorious and warm, but not going to last. Paris meteo is saying 1 to 9 on Sunday. No rain, but cloud
Our neighbours have just been over to go over animal feeding and they have rellies from Down Under who have someone running on Sunday too.....how spooky is that - wonder if he's on here. They have sent him a text to tell him to come to the Arc at 0800 to meet up...Small world.
Simon MacDoughnut - brilliant, do you get soup and other food items as part of the salary package? I've heard it's a lovely route, very friendly. I was impressed with the stand at last year's VLM expo too - lots of additionals such as travel to and from start/finish, a meal the night before and if memory serves, a meal after as well! Will do it one day. Definitely.
Although Amsterdam is now pencilled in for 2014 and I think that's the same day or if not, a mere week apart. Hmm.
going doo- lalleee here....left all the very important things in the bathroom :
vasaliine - very very large pot
micropor tape
hot and cold rubs
that really is it now....I think?
Yes, llamas. Male is very very poorly now, so I think it's time, but vet is due at 4pm so we shall see, one girl has a malignant tumour up her nose, whilst it's not constricting her breathing now, it soon will, and nothing can be done there either. So a sad day in llamaland and himindoors is not in a good place (his babies). thanks for your thoughts.
These have been reported to out support team but unfortunatly as they work in order of priority this one isn't the top of the list as there have been bigger issues with the site, events entry and that sort of thing. However they are aware and it should be resolved soon.
Thanks for your patience!
Annie RW
Looks like they'll be a while fixing things. Spotted the post above in a thread about the problems.
Just thought I'd nip in and wish you all good luck. If you've never ran it before you'll love it. Nice to see a few old friends on here. I'll be tracking you on Sunday and hoping to see good times. Savour the day and made sure you enjoy .

I've found my safety pins and left myself wide open for some Tricky Dickery on facebook. Game over for Kate.

Off to run, then chill and stuff my face tonight.
Two more sleeps.......
Onetit - sorry about the vet news, is it the Llama(s)?
I'm convinced I'm getting a sore throat. Have procured more drugs from Boots.
Am also convinced I've injured my patella. It hurts walking/running down hills.
Moi? Marathon doo-lally? Never!
Onetit - cyber-hug for you. That's no good at all.

The Loch Ness marathon must have the best logo in the world... http://www.rampantscotland.com/graphics/ness_marathon2.jpg It makes me laugh, every time I see it.
Kirsty, I've emailed you. If nothing arrives, check spam.
I wonder if I can use ATMs link to add a picture?
Woo hoo - I miss pictures
Onetit - hugs all round
oooooo
There goes the afternoon...
Thank you so much!
I want to fast forward the next few days. I wish it was saturday, just arriving into Paris!
Or maybe I should be fastforwarding to the finish line!
I know, and the medal has that on it too.
I wish it was already Saturday for completely different reasons!
Managed 5k and my legs are lead....it's hot out there, forgotten what that feels like, it won't last..
Collected a trailer of wood for the burner and have been stacking - doing my Rocky impression, made me laugh anyway....
