DS - Fentiman's Ginger Beer is just wrong. Personal taste, and all that, but I find it too "genteel" - I much prefer a big gingery, sugary hit from Old Jamaica
Hehe Chillies, not you too, I'm not falling for that trick again. That's just a cunning way of lulling me into a false sense of security, then you get to mile 20 before me and quaff my lovely iced drink. It's the same at every event. Whenever I get to my supplies, I fiind the Fentimans emptied, my cheese nibbled and my Marmite....... left untouched.
On the bright side - I'm very disciplined with closing gates in the countryside, so if I am last, everything will be left as it should be - plus I'll be able to nip behind a hedge for a wee without anybody noticing.
We all all optimists here arn't we? We are all vying to come last lol Perhaps instead of starting the race on the day perhaps we could start the night before?
I'm lacking a bit of focus at the moment. I've got a tri to get through very shortly, it's my first and I didn't swim or cycle when I entered, so I've had to split what resources I do have to make that training possible. Once that's out of the way, I can really focus on GH and mainly running again, which I'm really looking forward to being able to do.
Well its late on in the day with me. Just done my first long run Saturday just gone. Only 15 miles but I felt great. I have been doing loads and loads if quick short runs since Xmas and I have never felt so fit, they have helped hughly on my longer run and HM's i've done. So I am moderatley optimistic in finishing as long as I get the nutrition side of things right. Alternatively I will die a miserable death on a hill somewhere

I believe it may be LiverBird, so again the jury is probably still out ..
Wow Bruce, you have a death wish or something?
I aint fussy, Liverbird don't have a tache does she??
She doesn't come in here does she ? .... Anyway I'm thinking it may give a bit of a motivational boost to speed up around mile 20.
It depends on how late in the day it is
I'm going to tell on you Bruce. You are so dead.
Its all part of my masterplan ... if LB kills me first it means I don't have to run up those bloomin' hills !

hehehe
Phew TDS, just aswell we don't go in for cheap innuendo on this thread isn't it
Hi all... also running this... slowly....
Once the time limit is reached I've heard they're releasing the cows into the course
Hehe, just a bit Bruce.
Hi pkiM
Hey Pkim be good to see you, really looking forward to this and I have decided I am coming even if I end up not be able to run.
I hope you had a nice holiday GB good to have our leader back
Creeping won't get you an easier route.
mrs mouse can you convert the route I sent you for the marathon onto a downloadable file for a Garmin???
Hi all,
any idea what the total ascent is for the race?
Bloody hilly doesn't suffice
Hog Mousey knows its about rhe same as Beachy Head more than Purbeck and South Downs
Basically 10 major climbs of about 400 feet each....pretty much a hill every 2.5 miles.
There's a kml file for use in Google earth, you can view the route with the elevation profile.
It's approx 4,000 ft ascent / descent.
unfortunately measuring ascent / descent is a bit like asking how long is a piece of string. Everyone will come up with a different answer.
Will have Mrs Mouses stuff on our website soon
Thanks Mousey
Ah so kinda like the same as running up Snowdon!
Well least it's a challenging first ever marathon for me!!
If you can run up Snowdon then it'll be a breeze. I'm hoping Bruce will be giving me a piggy back.
actually thats not such a bad idea, as it sort of guarantees that I will come second last, rather than my currently anticipated 'dead' last
It's probably time I put in a bid to come last as well
I don't think you guys really appreciate how far back, last is going to be.
On the bright side - I'm very disciplined with closing gates in the countryside, so if I am last, everything will be left as it should be - plus I'll be able to nip behind a hedge for a wee without anybody noticing.
