New event for 2013. Measured and certified 5 mile loop starting at Ogmore Vale Life Centre (about 5-6 miles from Junction 36 of the M4).

First 2.5 miles include 370 feet of ascent up to Nantymoel before mostly descending for the second half of the run with a couple of short inclines thrown in all on tarmac roads.

Prize money for first male and female senior and veteran finishers. Goody bag including tech t-shirt for all finishers of the 5 mile run, and goody bag and medal for finishers of the 2 mile walk.

Any questions, please let me know. All abilities welcome.

This was an annual event in the 80's / early 90's - we believe it was last run 19 years ago.  So if there's anyone out there who can remember it, please feel free to share your memories of the event.

  • Do we have to learn how to pronounce it before we're allowed to run it?

Ha ha - in English, its Ogmore Vale or Ogmore Valley if that helps image

Just a quick reminder about this event. We're hopefully looking at 50+ entrants now which we're pleased with for our first club event. Would be great to get nearer to 100 so if you know anyone in South Wales who fancies a challenging and friendly 5 mile run, then let them know about this.

£10 to enter on the day. Registration open from 8.30-9.30am with run starting at 10am. More details at www.cwmogwrrunningclub.co.uk

    £50

In case anyone's interested, the event was a great success. We had 88 runners for the 5 mile run and another 40-50 for the 2 mile walk which by far exceeded our expectations. We had 11 different running clubs represented including a couple of Swansea Harriers who tore up the hilly course with the winner coming in at 29:19 and the top 3 all sub 30 minutes. We also had dozens of local runners as well as several doing the 5 mile distance for the first time coming in just over the hour mark.

Weather conditions were nice and cool. Atmosphere was friendly, and everyone seemed to enjoy the scenic and challenging course. The marshalls who were mostly friends and family of our running club members were fantastic and ensured the whole event went smoothly and they cheered and encouraged every runner. Can't wait for next years event and keep an eye on our website as there may be more events to come this year.

Only £8 for affilated runners and includes tech t and goodie bag at the end with results posted within a couple of hours of the finish. £50 for first male / female / veteran finishers.
