I've noticed a fair number of threads about cancelled events this year (Cotswold Marathon, Liverpool Marathon, Helsby Half, Gloucester Marathon, I'm sure there have been a few others but can't remember them) is it just me or do there seem to be more cancellations than previous years?

I don't think the weather has helped in a number of cases. It's affected quite a few sportives too.
Liverpool was down to the stupid council. Appppppppparently it will be back next year.
Banbury 15 was down to the weather.
Brass Monkey Half Marathon was cancelled too, because of the snow.
The hardest ultra distance events, which are the events where the weather would have the greatest impact, seem to go ahead even if hell fire is raining down from the sky!
Good Point Ben.
Even flooding on the course did not stop the TP100 going ahead they just ran it on the "Plan B" course.
Yep, absolutely right. I seem to remember that 'The Spine' still went ahead in January, and that was approx 250 miles worth (yes, 250) of running up and down hills and mountains, over 7 consecutive days, in some pretty bloody harsh conditions.
