Just in case you all are hearing the news across the pond, Oklahoma is about 750 miles west of me so that massive tornado (2 miles wide, with winds near 200 mph) didn't impact me directly. Still amazing. The town it hit is basically gone and there was a direct hit on an elementary (primary to you?) school.
my left foot is playing up again, it was stiff/sore after a longish run on saturday so i did the whole hot bath/massage/stretch/roller/stretch thingy yesterday and it's a bit tingly/tender today (though on the + side, it wasn't stiff this morning). Have decided to ditch the planned run today and give it another day to recover before pounding the pavement.
Had a good swim last night, off to repeat the hot bath/stretch/massage thingy again, and hopr to run tomorrow.
Will and Frag, hope your aches and pains are better soon.
2½ hour run for me this morning. Really enjoyed it, despite the return of the wind. I'd forgotten to charge my Garmin and it was flat, so I used my phone to keep an eye on the time and just ran at a comfortable pace. How lovely it was not to be looking at the numbers.
just realised ive done london marathon, swimathon & slateman in the last 5 weeks. Guess that hasnt helped in calf recovery. I get the Grafman out the way then have 8 weeks till ironman so should be good by then. Although due to work redundancy issues & me potentially starting an offshore job i may end up missing Bolton anyway now
Back to normal next week I think, I have a flippin 800m swim to do as part of a relay in Notts for the VUE Emergency Services Tri .... the sun had better come out for that one, I have a tan to show off
Morning all. Has anyone seen my training motivation anywhere?
Thanks for the well wishes. Even though it would be at the expense of missing the Ironman this year which would be a gutter, obviously earning comes first, so i'm quite anxious to get this offshore job. Not to mention the money is more than double my current salary.
What with work thoughts & niggly calf i'm struggling to crack on. Cold weather when its nearly June isnt helping to enthuse the mood either.
Going out for a 4 hour bike today & a 15 min run brick. Hopefully.
Grafman should be good Tim, looks like its going to be a bit warmer by then. Need to locate a suitable evening meal venue for us, i'll try find something this evening.
SD, hope your motivation comes back soon. I lost my motivation for training not so long back, it's very frustrating.
Was half expecting to see you down Whitlingham this morning. Looking forward to wednesday's open water swim now, I really enjoyed it which I wasn't expecting.
Hi Budge, did you enjoy it? I'm doing every Wednesday & every other saturday down there so will see you midweek.
Felt better after my bike and run today, although run was quite painfull. Managed 58 miles in just under 4 hours followed by a 12 min run. Bike was non stop as well which is probably the longest ive spent in the saddle ever.
ID. Job is on a dive support vessel in the Persian Gulf. My cousins the chief officer, which is how this has come my way. His OCM liked my CV so has also reccomended me, so its currently with head office to say yay or nay. Fingers crossed. Checking my email every 10 minutes for the last 2 days

Sorry to hear about the work situation SD, hope it all works out for you
Hi SD, hope things get better for you quickly? Would aqua swimming offer the calf any restbite?
I have the delights of a dicky tummy this morning, so I'm thinking I'll postpone my 70 mile bike. Will turbo tonight if things have settled down!
SD, you're a machine. Look forward to meeting up for Grafman.
Swam 1.2 miles in 45 mins in pool this morning. That's good for me, hope I can repeat the performance in a lake in 2 week's time (Grafman half)!
Morning all
Afternoon
Now, are you coming swimming? I want a catch-up!

Would that have been a "no", then.... ?!
It would

SD - out of interest and for no reason than net curtain twitchyness, where abouts offshore?
Having worked offshore in a few places (and being born in such a place), I'd say definatley go for it if you can.

SD - Sounds a wonderful opportunity! Good luck!
Really enjoyed it actually SD. I'm hoping to get there early enough on Wednesday to get into the lesson, I've heard good things about them.
Nice job on the bike and run!
