Mrs Hogmousey - if you learn can you teach us? I'm trying to work out how to climb hills.
Does anyone do any of their hill training on dreadmills? I've been considering it but our gym have a firm 30 minute only rule on the treadmills.
Have you got a tall biulding near you? Something used to do as a student is pop into the arts tower at my uni and run and down all the step's it's seem's to work well although I never managed to run all the way to the top of the building without having to walk some of the step's.
Hi Cake - Not really. I work on the 4th floor and try to walk up the stairs every day but I don't have anything like that. I've tried the local shopping centre but it's not that big either.
I'm doing the Great Shaftesbury run tomorrow morning but hoping to join you "en-route" for the end of the marathon walk tomorrow - will try and message you to get a mobile no. and find out where you are!
Right we have a very limited number of Giantshead Marathon Hoodies back up for sale, email our sales team on info@whitestarrunning.co.uk Sizes are as following...remember when they is gone they is gone. We will have a different design next year.(thats if I don't have a nervous breakdown before then) Right we have Zip Grey small x3 Med x1 lrg x2
Hi I like the look of this event, a friend has pulled out and offered me their place I did the London Marathon and have got back to my training.
so felt up for the challenge should I turn up on the day with his number or should I contact the organisers. I have never swapped before so I am not sure of the protocol?
Can anyone remind me - not sure I want to be reminded - what's the total elevation gain, I want to compare it with South Downs which I'm doing next weekend and see how much more I need to worry....
Trying to remember the flat bits on the South Downs...done that one a few times, but it would appear that the two are possibly comparable. I'll give a definitive answer in about a month...
Bruce, they're only giving you because there isn't a smiley with two fingers on it Or maybe they should be reserved for Goldie who came up with this mara, hehehehe. I'm looking forward to marshalling

Thanks Marc
Grovel, grovel now and grovel loudly. Promise to buy at least one of the aforementioned hoodies and remind Goldie that he tells the funniest of jokes.
You might get away with it or you might get a thick ear.
Agreed. Add in some additional emotion...
fyi - GoldBeetle IS the RD
Mrs Mouse, there is grovelling and then there is just plain going too far !!
Fab afternoon Thanks, legs are aching a bit now I have to confess - cwtched up in my nice new hoodie with a large glass of red
Spoke to the race director all swapped over. Looking forwards to the race.
(((Virago))) Great to have met you,
Confidence is a bit up and down at the moment. :~

Kate - I don't think I want to know!
Mrs hog-mousey - join my club. I'm actually petrified of this race. Someone asked me: will 7 hours be enough!?
Total ascent gain for GHM is around the 4,000ft mark. Slightly more than SouthDowns.
The major difference as I see it is that there are no flat bits on this marathon unlike the SD which give you time to recover.
I did paste overlays of the elevation of the two somewhere, see if I can find it.
GH & SD
SD
I have kml files of both
Trying to remember the flat bits on the South Downs...done that one a few times, but it would appear that the two are possibly comparable.
I'll give a definitive answer in about a month...
oh come on guys ... there's only 9 hills of any significance on that profile ... I mean its nto even in double figures
Bruce: I only have one emotion for you:
Emmy, I blame the delerium brought on by my mind refusing to acknowledge what I'm going to do to my body !
Bruce, they're only giving you because there isn't a smiley with two fingers on it Or maybe they should be reserved for Goldie who came up with this mara, hehehehe. I'm looking forward to marshalling
Lee - Will you be at the Mile 20 love station?
Bruce - I'm not going to think about it until I arrive and am on the start line!
