  • Yes! image Hehehehe, can't wait!

Mostly i'm looking forward to just meeting everyone - some old faces and some new- it'll be ace image

I've been a good girl and booked in to Cafe Panini's too, for 7:30.  If most folk going at different time i'll change it though, lol

Lee- I'll with Pabs so we'll be there i'm just not sure when!

  • If you want i'll call up and book both of you a spot?  If you both have a look at the menu, and let me know what you want, i'll book it, save you calling from abroad!

That's really nice of you! I'll be in the Uk running the kent roadrunner marathon this weekend and planning to call them then and be cheap! image

I have just ordered myself a new pair of shoes. Thanks to someone on this thread talking about inov8's falling apart, I took a close look at mine and indeed they are falling apart so need to be replaced. i couldn't buy the ones I wanted so I've gone for the pink ones.

I'm planning on another trip over the Downs this weekend to get in some more hill work.

Really hope to be able to run this, (well run / walk) Getting close so fingers and toes crossed, but not holding my breath.

    Wotcha

Medals arrived today. Its been a busy week all our race kit arrived too

Anyway great walk with the crew the otherd day. Nice to meet the tough ones DS and Virago.

Im going to be honest i have been over the course 10 times or so its not that tough. I would say its a bit harder than Southdowns

The hills are tough Hills 1 and 2 are a surprise 3,4 and 7,8, 10are pretty long almost a mile each 6 is steep and 9 at Batcombe well thats short and sweet image

we never wanted to sell it as a climb up Everest its a tough race, the views the company and a good vibe is what we hope people are buying into.

We wanted to create an event we would want to take part in ourselves and wanted all the good things we have found in all the events we have done. The nice touches and the little bits that make an event worth doing. cheap camping, food the night before, good medals, tech T's all the other things the "big events" sometimes fail to do.

Ok we may not get everything right this year but we hope to get close image

  • Sounds like you've got it just right Goldie. It's going to be AWESOME image

  • Brilliant to finally meet you Goldie, the walk was great and it was cool to be able to go on to and get so much of the course done.   I've actually shifted from being worried, to being excited to do it now.

  • My only proper training run for this was the Sarsen Trail marathon a few weeks ago - I've done one 12 mile run and three 8 mile runs (and about twenty shorter runs) since that. Just relying on experience to avoid panicking about the hills. I got round South Downs in a few minutes under 4 hours last year, so I'm sure I'm not going to fall apart completely!

We're staying in Portland on Friday night, but we will drive up to Panini's for dinner if there's going to be a gathering of forumites - it would be great to meet you.

This is why i'm running this race.

  • All the best folk are going at 7:30 Goldie image

  • I shall book to arrive at 7:40 then Lee, fashionably late (which I should imagine will pretty much mirror my finish on the following day!)

New shoes just arrived. image Had to buy them after I saw the state of the ones I'd been running in for the past year. I don't think they'd've stayed in one piece for the duration of the marathon.

Chillies you'll be fine having a run marathon distance. if you take it easy then the hills won't be a real problem. I ran walked 18.5 miles with 4,200ft ascent last Sunday and finished feeling quite fresh though I couldn't run anymore and I gave up trying to cycle up a big hill on the way home, walked up it instead. I intend a reapeat performance this Sunday except if I finsh early I may go for a swim in the sea afterward. ha ha.

    Hehehehe

  • Right .. 3 of us booked in for 7:30 (child one is not attending .. its just not cool to go away for the weekend with parents anymore it seems .. although I have warned him I will be filling the house with webcams so we can 'keep an eye on him'!).

I'll be the one sat shyly in the corner trying not to make eye contact.
