It was the mrs birthday blisters not mine but cheers all the same.... I'm going for the sub 3 this winter, I've done the approximate time for a half marathon 1:25 and that hurt so... I'm no gifted runner either..... It's a shame you have too drive a 100 miles even for me that is too far too bike too work .... Oh and swim lessons will work a treat they took a massive 7 mins off my 1500m time yup 7 which is bloody massive! Good luck mate!
and sheep ! had about 5 young sheep come running out onto the road on sunday near Rotherfield Greys, frightened the bloody life out of me that, and the rabbit that ran across in front of me, and the range rover that nearly took me out, and the stupid old git that pulled out sloooooooowly in front of me, made for an interesting ride
Swimmed tonight, in the pool, and by comparison with the outside world it was neche. 2.5k in 1h06. Not Jamie standards, but it was at least a "done deal".
Blisters I'm a shit swimmer :x nice swim however, my training has been ok this week just been ticking over really.... Resisting the urge too purchase a mountain bike

Somehow, I get the feeling that you'll be calling 3.8km in 1:06 a shit swim...anyway, you don't need a mountain bike, Howe Hill's not THAT bad. Or is it?
No really I'm crap at swimming! I had a crappy swim at Henley last year and emerged at a impressive 1:21..... nah that hill is really easy.... It's only half a mile long and the bottom is a lot steeper then the top....
Hey guys, it was great to meet some of you on the recent bike course recce. I've also enjoyed some of your race / training reports (well done!). Would be great to meet up again for another trip round the bike course and maybe some of the run route - to be honest I am startingfeel very very anxious !
Yep, wearing 2 swim caps but the lake at Enduroman is really small so its meant to be a bit warmer. Its 200m laps so I'll see how I get on, if I struggle badly I might have to call it a day but I'm at least going to try.
Thanks Soup! The best of luck to you too at Enduroman. I'm struggling to see at the moment how there is going to be a full length swim at Swashbuckler. It will be interesting to see what RNF say at the race briefing tomorrow. I think I'll be bringing a second hat with me for sure! The race will be my first OW swim of the year so it's certainly going to be 'interesting'

I will be up for another (2-lap?) recce soon. Maybe we can get the ball rolling after this weekends racing escapades!
Do TT bikes make much of a difference ? I'm pretty happy on my road bike but am keen to do anything to make those 112 miles go quicker / be more comfortable....would welcome ANY advice or thoughts !
Brooko. There's one piece of advice I keep getting given. Get on your bike and ride some. The ride some more. And some more. If you can cycle for an hour at 20mph it means absolutely nothing, you need to cycle at 17 mph for 6.5 hours.
Aye...anyway TT depends on various factors... One you need too be able hold the aero position For hours at a time... If not dont bother.... 2 depends on the courses you race and ride if its hilly a TT bike won't make a difference as they are heavier and much more of a pain in the arse too lug up a hill.... I love my TT bike and would rather ride it any day over a road bike on almost any course... Actually on any course as I find it so comfortable.... But try one before you buy one

OK - looked at my training - I reckon this is week 16 out of 30 if you're following Fink - is that about right?
Think I'll have another 'easy' week then try and slot back into the training plan.
Yes mate, week 16, 'Build 6'.
Not sure Fink called for a mid training Ironman practice race though!?
Ahh it was only Lanza.... not a real race like Henley, where you have to dodge angry teddy bear shop keepers

Good luck to Badger at Swashbuckler this weekend.
I did an ow swim yesterday and I struggled to do 500m in the cold so I just hope the New Forest is a bit warmer.
Soup it's probably doubtful, are you wearing 2 swim hats?

Might be a bit late but good luck to the racers this weekend, hope the water is warmer than it was for me a couple of weeks ago.
Registered, packed. Early night for me before a ridiculous 03:30 wake up. See you on the other side. I'll try not to be shit.
My wake up call is 4am.Race well badger. I too will try not to be shit. Lake temperature 18 unless they were being less than truthful.
