I'm trying to get over my addiction to Comrades. I might do a few more but I won't be in a hurry. It is certainly one of the must do races of the world as far as I am concerned
Inspirational stuff BIKE It - Well done Sir - I have planted the seed for 2021 with the missus as it (hopefully) coincides with the British Lions tour She looked at me and said - 'you really planning on doing that in your early 50s?'. Hmmmm.
Fantastic Bike It, can get an inkling of what it must have been like but to do a course like that with heat thrown in makes it an exponentially tougher test. within a week you will be planning next year's sortie. InterestedLin an overview of your training - what were the longest runs, how many etc.
Nice one too by Sir Lorenzo Wiggins despite the kit failure.
Mennania - as an occasional lurker on the thread and twice Paris Marathon runner - I can assure you that they are not on the same weekend. Paris is on the 6 April 2014 http://www.parismarathon.com/
Still haven't broke the news to Mrs moof that VLM is on her birthday. Plenty of time yet.
Fantastic Effort Bike it, that's a long way to go in that heat.
Lorenzo- well done on the 100, although your peddle falling off at mile 97 did make me chuckle, sorry. How annoying is that! Take a couple of allen keys next time.
5 mile recovery done- what a lovely evening, must be the best so far this year. Planning a 3 mile hill race on Wednesday- last time I did this one was c18 years ago.
Anyway, it seems that cycling 100 miles isn't good enough for comment these days unless you do it with one leg tied behind your back. And yes, I carry a cute little set of Allen keys for just such emergencies.
Sorry Blisters, that was a decent ton and run from you too.
Lorenzo- I had a look at the link you posted http://www.ukcyclingevents.co.uk/events/ and I noticed there is a 200k sportive in newbury on July 14th, was that the one you were planning on doing?
Just happens to be my birthday so could be tempted to give it a go, but maybe 120 odd miles with a hangover wouldn't be one of my brightest ideas.
My wedding anniversary and elder daughter's birthday are both in April but VLM manages to miss them both next year (they fall on Maundy Thursday and Easter Monday instead) - just need to get a place at VLM now! 10 slow miles in beautiful sunshine this morning
Family and work life have taken over for the past couple of weeks plus I had no internet access for a few days so sorry to miss all the fun. I will need to read back but huge congrats to Speedy and Bike it - absolutely inspirational from both of you.
A good 10 miler bagged by Gul early doors, after an evening recovery from OO.
The ever present thread lurgy seems to have been passed on to me over the past couple of days. Hoping it has lost its bite by now. Stupidly attempted a run today but was basically a coughing session. Nice bit of sunshine though.
Comments
Lorenzo - you just have to get the wording right. I've already planted the seed at home.
Thanks for all your positive comments
Nice 100miler Lorenzo
I'm not really in the mood to do anything with hot weather again. I'm even a bit reluctant to enter VLM14 in case its a bit hot.

Xpost Mennania - remember this is also the "still going for PBs in one's 50s" thread.....
it certainly is Poacher
I think maras are my only hope for PBing in my 50s, or maybe never run a 10m race until i'm 51.
Can someone explain to me the logic of VLM and Paris being on the same day?
They are French. There is no logic.
Fair point, well made Blisters

as you were
Ooh, that's my birthday! Maybe I'll run it instead of VLM.
OOh - its still on then - 6th and 13th respectively - Cheers Ant P
Two in a week is for lightweights - why not find another and make it a hat trick. The family will understand.
So why is everything a week early?
...as they pack their bags and clear off.
Because Easter is late.
Ah yes, just googled and Easter Sunday is the following week. That is late.

At least it wasn't a wheel I suppose

Easter may be late, but they are still French.

Lorenzo - Maybe next time without any pedals at all? Or brakes? Epic stuff from you at the weekend.
I started this madness the other day, and I'm aching all over as a result...
It is actually a beautiful day so I'm off out.
Ant - what part of that site have you just started to make you ache so...?
The six-pack challenge!!
Oh right! I thought it was a dodgy site going by the pics!
Well, it is a bit dodgy, tbh...
