Dave!! Really though. Whatever was the little kick that white man van used to get from page 3 surely it's time to drop it now. Even The Sun must recognise it's old hat.
Caroline Lucas cares! I care that there are still people who even read The Sun. I am genuinely surprised when I see people with a copy of The Sun. Is anyone really looking at page 3 girls and going corr that's brightened my day?
what happened to freedom of choice ? If you wish to buy The Sun fine, the publishers seem to make money out of it. I doubt any of the women featured are forced into whipping their baps out

I think this site is marginally too sophisticated to give you the answer
Maybe it's a question you should be asking on the newspaper's own website. Perhaps white van men with paws instead of hands could mash you out an incoherent reply on their keyboards.
I don't mind being challenged, and I answered that challenge.
Why don't you just admit you like being negative and obtuse? It'd be a refreshing change to see you turn up on a thread and post a positive comment for once.
I have voted Caroline Lucas into power but as much as I trust her integrity I'm not sure I would back a ban on page 3. I don't like page 3 and I don't like The Sun but I don't like censorship either. I'm not offended by a pair of tits but wonder why it has to be some sort of daily ritual for some people. Really, how do the target audience react to page 3?
I don't read the Sun but I do read Deirdre's photo casebook.
I think part of the argument against page 3 is that is so 'harmless' that it normalises the objectification of women because it's so tongue in cheek that it's hard to attack without being accused of being trivial or humourless.
I doubt you will get much of a reply from Sun Reader on this forum. The demographic of most runners appear to be middle aged and middle class left leaning folk.
I did glance a copy of the Sun yesterday and the page three girl was a nice attactive 21 year old from London can't remember her name. Other than that the sports pages at the back are quite good the rest of the paper's content is mostly pap...
I shall ask the blokes at my local if its the tits on page three that makes them buy it or the fact that they can just about finish the sun cross word
So should Caroline Lucas be objecting to something more worthwhile? The Sun can seem harmless to you when you live in an intelligent community but then you see that there are people who believe every word of it. The target audience are the people who can't think for themselves. The people who don't trust their instincts
The Daily Mail can seem harmless to you when you live in an intelligent community, but then you see that there are people who believe every word of it.
The Independent can seem harmless to you when you live in an intelligent community, but then you see that there are people who believe every word of it.
The Times can seem harmless to you when you live in an intelligent community, but then you see that there are people who believe every word of it.
The Telegraph can seem harmless to you when you live in an intelligent community, but then you see that there are people who believe every word of it.

Caroline Lucas an icon from the 70's ? Who'd a thunk it

Who cares?
Has anyone asked Claire Short what she thinks ?
there are far more offensive things in The Sun every day than page 3.

Why do you care....

personally I buy a different news paper
Perhaps she was being ironic?

Why do you care that people still read/look at The Sun?
Iconic and ironic all in one morning ?
Why do you care whether people care?
See? We could go on like this all day...
I guess I would love to hear from Sun readers. Are there any out there?
I don't care, and that is clear from my question.
It is clear you don't care - but your question was why other people cared. If you don't want to be challenged about it don't post.

Who is the target audience ?
You need to ask the target audience SR - we're clearly not it.
Although perhaps it begs the question why was the page 7 fella was dropped years ago?
Plain, old fashioned sexism?

The 'news in briefs' bit is quite funny though.
Yukkie idea
And there's the objectification argument summed up in two words!

I meant even worse than the urgent airbrushed bimbos...
Yes, Ms Lucas should be.

Me and Deidre share the same surname, but she's not my Auntie. Which is a shame really, she'd probably have a few stories for after Christmas dinner.
