Thought so , I'd cycled over Ivinghoe beacon and someone had thoughtfully laid out signs for me so I followed the route for a while then turned around and did it in reverse. only saw the one pirate top. looked like a good ride.
Yes that was me !! The only pirate on show I believe !
Bobbins was this the aylesbury sportive? I was going to do it but my mother-in-law ran over my foot saturday with her wheelchair. It was a accident honest.
Hey guys just going to jump in here...How did you decide when you were ready to go from Olympic distance to half ironman? I'm thinking of doing the Miami man in November and then think of doing an IM a year later. But I just don't know whether the just dive in and sign up or what. Eeeeep.
i just signed up for stuff that looked good then trained towards it. Just go for it, i havent felt ready for any event ive done so far, proven on Sunday, but still finished
If you have done an olympic you will be able to do a half ironman imo. Good luck
Hannah, what Sossige said again. Just dive in, sign up and work towards it
I think if you're at Olympic distance level you can train for a full Ironman, no problem. I couldn't swim 25m in January this year, and I finished a half ironman two weeks ago and have a full ironman in about 6 weeks from now.
just wondering what peoples average 1.5 k / 3k open water swim times are?
i am at 30 mins for 1.5k and then 1:03 for 3k.
Am i going to be out of the water last
Hell no thats normally my honour. This might sound daft but I wouldn't worry about what your time is conpared to other folks. This way madness lie's.
If you try and do a race by anyone's standards/times other than what you yourself think you can do you will knacker yourself out and not finish it. Your only swimming/biking/running against yourself. The thing with this is if you are relaxed and run your own race you will probably find you are faster than if you where worrying about stuff like that.
Trust me I am a quaniffied muppet it's all going to be good, just train hard and race easy.
i wont be racing anyone other than my fat knackered alter ego so i always win
I was last out of the 3k swim last night and it was the first time i have been out last, but the first time i have done that distance so wasnt sure. Werent that many who did the distance and they beat me by a good 10 mins i would say.
i always seem to struggle to relax for the first 5 mins and then it dawns on me that i can swim and that the water isnt that green
now getting out of my wetsuit is a whole other kettle of fish! i am thinking a good 5 mins in T1 at that alone....
Happychap got that exact time at Outlaw a couple of years ago I believe - 1 second before the cut off!
Budjude - the other thing to remember when comparing swim times is the conditions of the swim - is it a lake/sea/river swim, how windy is it, how cold is it? You'll never get the same conditions twice. I was almost 15 minutes quicker in the sea swim at Lanza compared to the week before at my local lake.
Oh thanks guys! definitely going to jump in I came second in my Olympic distance in San Andres and had an awesome time!!! I will be in the UK for work in September and signed up for a charity place at the world Championships in London...I had wanted to do the snowdonia race as that is where I am from but it is on the same date as my flight back to Bogota.
I think I will do the half IM in Miami in November as it is easy to get to from here. Signing up after work today, you are all right- if I sign up I will find a way to do it!! Any suggestions about recommended IM for 2014? If I plan ahead I can travel

And...how did you become pirates? Does it involve planks and cold water and terrible food or has it all got civilised and cyber now?
Hi hannah.
i just signed up for stuff that looked good then trained towards it. Just go for it, i havent felt ready for any event ive done so far, proven on Sunday, but still finished

ps. Which full ironman will you be doing in 2014
Oh it's much, much worse than that ...
I've only entered one tri up to now and had a DNF. Outlaw will be my first triathlon finish.
Jump in Hannah
Morning all
Last nite for me was ...
- 45.5 mile bike ride around kent
- 30mins core and stretch
Hannah, what Soggige said, if you've done an Olympic you can train for a half. Sign up first then worry about it.

Jump in, it's all possible
The shortest distance I did was 1/2 IM, I'd already signed up to IM by then
So you are saying that you prefer long and steady.. to short and fast
Don't you have a 6 hr spin session to do or something Will??!
I did one Oly last July, loved it then did HIM in Sept and am doing IM this July (Outlaw), so yes, just do it

I think thats middle of the pack times for the swim Bj
middle of the pack suits me fine, as long as that doesnt include getting beaten up the entire way round!

To avoid being last out of a swim, sign up to the same events as me
are you doing the ullswater tri or ultimate half this year ?
Pah SD and Cake I will fight you for the last out the water but still within the cut off prize. 1hr 59mins 59seconds it mine, all mine
Latest swim time is 55mins for 2000 meters.

See Raf I'm following in my mentors footsteps perfectly.
The only way I know my open water swim time is from the last event I done, never really timed myself training.
I'll have to see how fast I can swim 800m/1600m tonight I think
Grafman race report.
