me being the old man starts first at 6:40, so should be out on the bike by 7:15 and on the run by 8:25...... and on the fry up by just after 9:00!! The rest will be chasing me
Im all pumped ready too go, as I'm minus my pirate Monaco il be in my blue noosa tri suit (only person there with one unless they lived and was a member if noose tri club in Australia!) have my pirate hat for ze run though!
Nice, my wave wasn't too bad. Last year there was a fight in the shallows opposite the start, 2 grown men slapping each other in wetsuits, goggles & silly rubber hats stood up in waist deep water.
My wave was a little crowded to say the least!! There was one bloke in front of me who must have walked two thirds of the way up as it was that shallow close to the bank, although he threw in the odd bit of breast stroke so he could at least say he swam it!!
And as for those cheap timing chips - I have a huge hole in my ankle where it rubbed (OK that might be a little bit of an exaggeration!)
It was a fun morning out, but I would have expecedt more for that kind of entrance fee!! Won't be on my list next year!!
Oh I came 9th in age group out of 111so not bad as Olympic really isn't my forte.... Only a few mins off a podium place sadly... Well 3rd...1stwas2:10
split times for me where 31:55 for swim ... I'm rubbish at swimming a d had a google problem etc etc.. T1 1:49... Bike time 3rd fastest in age group, less then 1 min behind leader.... T2 1:36 ... Run 45:32 which was a bit crappy for me really but can't woman too much!
Was great to see pirates old and new, brings back all the old memories; high fiving along the run and giving each other verbal abuse.
Pity it didn't make me any faster, have realised I'm probably too old for this malarkey any more.
Well done to all, there were some great performances out there yesterday.
not a bad event, just hated the swim in the Thames. The run course was fantastic, great support and loads of people cheering; pity about that hill outside the castle; that got a little annoying on the third lap !
GM.I - was great to see you again. What do you mean too old? If I can still drag myself around then you can as well - and you beat me on the bike sprint we had so all is not bad.
I agree with you about the swim. As I get older the harder it seems - not pysically but mentally for some bizarre reason.
Hope to see you again at another one as it bought back great memories for me as well.
Finished in 2:50:58 which was bang in the middle of the old gits age group.

What time are your starts? The bike and run are on one of my long bike routes so I can use the chance to cheer as an excellent chance for a break

Good luck everyone! Windsor was the first triathlon I ever saw when I was a little girl - been my inspiration ever since. x

A good day for all the pirates today with many yaaaaaaarggghhhs over the course!
Saw a few out there today, Thames was a wee bit parky this morning.
Didn't notice the tempretures as I was too busy getting smashed in the face by other idiots

My swim wave was a mix of two very different sorts of swimmers - half walking and the other half bashing each other in the middle of the Thames.
Great meeting everyone today and yesterday and thanks as always for the support around the run course which made a massive difference.
Raf- I put Bodyglide on the my left ankle to stop exactly that.
It is pricey but I'll probably do it next year as I now have a time to beat.
Yeah wasa really fun day, I did enjoy sneaking up on people on the bike and shouting YAAAARRRRGGHHHH!?!

Sounds like an interesting swim, but no one has mentioned times and more importantly who got overtaken by Jamie in his twat hat?
That would have been everyone but raf who I didn't manage too catch
2:34 bummed I never broke the 2:30 but this is just a race along the way to IMW so not that fussed.
Why bummed that's a sweet time well done! And Olympic distance means feck all in regards too ironman,
Yeah it's not too shabby for an old git like me & only my second Oly in 12 months.
