TV cricket commentator: always summer, nice venues, presumably some pretty nice accommodation when you're overseas, getting paid to talk about the game you love, half an hour's work and you hand the mike over to someone else for a bit.
Golf commentary looks even cushier. They mainly just report what we can all see from the scoreboard whereas cricket commentators are expected to see LBWs etc
Dude, how is being a firefighter cushy? It's more dangerous than most jobs for a start.
ok I was exaggerating but it is a pretty cushy number, which is why it is relatively difficult to get in.
Four days on, four days off. Which is actually two days and two nights on, so most of that time is spent asleep or playing darts.
For an unskilled profession the benefits and salary are fantastic, not to mention the pension. and everyone will want to sleep with you.
contrary to popular belief, firefighters don't 'run into burning buildings' either. almost all fires are tackled from outside in a controlled way. as it should be.
It isn't that dangerous either. I think statistically it is about the 26th most dangerous profession in the UK, way after nursing, farming, roofing, fishing and manufacturing etc etc.
Firefighters are great, and do an excellent job. But I'd swap places with them in an instant.
member of the royal family ? Particulary the minor royals that I understand receive an income from us tax payers or the queen. Either way earning before they get out of bed
No chance. All those public engagements you have no choice but to do, pretending to look interested and engaged when you're not, always having to be polite and dressed up to the nines, all that ceremonial claptrap, all that formality and all those rules - no thanks!

I'd be brave and sacrafice myself on the alter of cricket commentary.

Anything in the public sector if a few posters on this forum are to be believed.
Internet development department of Runner World.....
The trophy cleaner at the Emirates Stadium.
fireman
sorry, firefighter
Some public sector jobs (having worked in the public sector for a few years)

daft question - Gynaecologist
Unfair, a lot of them suffer from tennis elbow and back problems, too much snooker is hard on these areas
Editorial staff at Runner's World. Just copy and paste whatever you published at this time last year, and the previous year, and the previous year...
Not really - it's not like you get to choose which ones you want to look at.
Vicar ? Just 2 hours Sunday morning
Only 24000 a year though but all bills paid for and a rather large house
But genuinely work 50 odd hours a week, but if you look at stats usually Priest comes top of job satisfaction! Which I'd have to agree
Or Train Driver, 40-50 grand a year to push a stick backwards and forwards

I've always quite fancied being a monk. i can see the attraction to that lifestyle. apart from the whole 'believing in god' bit. is that compulsory?
That would add some intrigue
I work in the public sector, and today I had to pick up fox poo.
Apart from that, I actually had a lovely morning running relaxation sessions for our Year 5. More days like that please
Restaurant critic or travel writer.
Round my way, most fire-men are window cleaners and cabbies. The fire job just a nice side line.
🙂
Or decoraters, odd-job men etc, and at weekends they cruise the town centre at peak hours for the boozy young girls in the fire engine.
Agree, both very cushy.
I suppose we shouldn't be picking on fire-men but ever since they pitched for a basic £30,000 per year we got a look at their hours.
So fours days on four days off. A legacy of the blitz.
Two days on nights (sleep at the station) if no 'shout' then the following day is yours. Daytime (2 days) go home to sleep.
So only 2 out of 8 days spent at the job. 5% of time doing something.
🙂
Being an It Girl - paid thousands of pounds to wear branded goods and get photo taken.
The winner surely?
🙂
ant job that isn't your own...they all look better form the other side of the fence............
They generally look like shit from my side of the fence.
🙂
