Ah of course its the cerne giant! Silly me. How many other medals have an ancient meat and 2 veg on them? Answers on a postcard. No they look proper neck hurtingly chunky Perhaps we should start with the medal and have to carry it around the course to 'really' earn it?
Looking forward to this one. Not sure if i have missed somewhere on here or on the website, but does anyone have a link to the profile of the race. Just fancied scaring mysefl before the race!! Thanks
Took a closer look at the profile today but couldnt quite see what each of the height lines represent. Is it possible you could let me know the scale please.
Thanks. And hope the weather is more kind in two weeks time...
Seriously - is there a cut off time for the marathon? Tripped over a tree root on the South Downs Marathon and been having trouble with my knee. Saw your posting on Facebook about tree roots! WIll be gutted if I have to miss this as must have been one of the first to sign up for this.
What time did you run SD in Lorra? I would imagine that your GH time will be similar.
I tripped on a tree root a while ago, injured my knee, ankle and ribs. Couldn't run for a couple of weeks. I do hope your injury is not bad, if it's just bruising you should be fine. Don't know how I tripped, landed flat on my back.
Finished in 5hours 19minutes. Tripped at mile18 and somehow managed to finish. Still don't understand how tripping over a tree root can do so much damage? My left knee is tight and pain felt on the inner side. I'm just swimming and gym training at the moment and will make a decision next week.
Unfortunately so, most of the others are posting on here saying how unfit they are and that this is going to kill them. Most of the training appears to be in the format of drinking bear and eating cake. Very little running is being done.
There are 20 fit young men running, surely you can get one of them to carry you around.
Oh gawd ... I forgot about them !! ... Goldie, are you providing 'hiding facilities' at the start line for those of us of a not so athletic nature ...
I'm thinking like a modern day version of the old Victorian Bathing Machine, that we can sit in and be wheeled to the start line out of view of the crowds, and then just released in to the hills !

I wouldn't do that. It's scary
There's profiles lurking somewhere in the depths of this thread.
There's one somewhere in my gallery but I can't put it here now. Silly RW.

Thats briliant. Thanks Mrs HM.
Hmmm, looks a bit lumpy. Still that just means more walking up the hills to look at the scenary!!
See you in a couple of weeks.

Nervous, excited, looking forward to this!

Would be a shame not to do it for the medal, t shirt, the food, the cider and the company of fellow insane people

I was concentrating on the hog roast at the finish! Only 20 fit men?

Looks like a dodgy knee won't be a handcap to getting round after all.
As long as you have arms and hands you can drag yourself round like the rest of us
And I'll carry you if you can't walk
Race instructions will be published in a day or so email, website on here Facebook etc
We wont be posting numbers out
Can I have number 200, just so I don't feel under pressure to over perform?
No Gemma the number Goddess will issue the numbers you will get wot you is given
Well okay, as long as we don't have to finish in the right order - I hate when that happens.

Is it true that I am going to be No.2 , as I'm going to look like **** when I finish !!
Well I'm hoping for sub- 3 - and then I'll take the last 10 miles as they come
God, why does racing midweek always end up with me being wide awake at this hour and drinking cider?
Chillies, I am hoping to go sub-3 too, have to really as haven't booked the Monday off work!
