I was fairly fit and running 2 - 3 times a week up until two weeks ago when I fell and needed stiches in my right knee. Stiches are out now and I had been planning on doing a sprint aquathlon on 7th July. Am I mad to still be considering it? Knee is still quite sore, so was planning on doing plenty of swimming and winging it on the running.... opinions please

if its a sprint and you can already swim.......then you could do it tomorrow........you mightnot win it but you can complete it......do it and give youeself a time to beat next time
The knee wound sounds like it could still be at risk of infection. If the swim takes place in open water, think carefully. Weil's disease is not easily detected and can be very nasty.

Otherwise, keep it clean and crack on!
Hmmm it's a sea swim... wound is still pretty "open." Maybe I should be sensible for once in my life! Gutted, but I suppose there's always next year! Thanks for the advice
seas swim is different to alake swim.no catching of weils disease in the sea.........in fact sea is probably the safest option of all swimming to avoid infection unless you know there is an open sewer pipe just where you are swimming...
I'd go for it.
i wouldn't take an open wound into the swimming baths to practisce though.......i wouldn't like to know what you could catch there
Shouldn't the wound be healed... a suture line should heal in 2 weeks and if the stitches are out why is the wound open???
that said i'd still wait a week or so after ROS before swimming to allow the wound line to settle...
my opinion would be - do you want me to hold your hand?
Is 2.5 weeks long enough to train for a sprint Aquathlon?!of course its not but then again you say that you been training 2 or 3 times a week anyway so you arent starting from scratch, and having 2 weeks off is hardly going to put your training back months is it?
