  • donaldo: Tut, Tut re 4x 100m relay. Typical Scottish athlete's 'refuelling' thoughimage

  • Morning.

Is there just the one song that starts as above then?

birks - do you run with Geordie?

    What:                 an hours easy run
    Why:                  schedule

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Morning.

Another scorcher here.  25C at 6:30 this morning.  Chick is it as hot where you are?

What: club run, 9 very slow km this evening
Why: I found a friendly club image and it's too hot for anything but slow...
Last hard: sitting in a non airconditioned room with the windows shut as my colleagues think it's too noisy...

LMH I am trying to send weather your way, but it looks like rain!

  • Morning LMH: Yeah a fair bit now .I have done more running with him since started doing alot of off road running over last 3 months.

    Warm and sunny here now.

  • LMH: No there's a few that start with todays lyrics.

  • chickstachicksta ✭✭✭

tee hee but there's only one that I have in mind...   all will be revealed tomorrow. Until then: image'

emzap: yep, it is very hot. Not as bad as further South but forecast is for 32 degrees today and when I ran this morning it was 20 already. Very muggy too. Luckily I work in an airconditioned office.

    what: 6 miles
    why: every little helps
last hard: keeping my HR in check today
    last rest: Sunday

  • I was about to go for a run yesterday, when I discovered about (another) club mate who had an accident on her bike, on a club run. It was pretty bad to be honest, and she was barely alive. Wobbled, kerbed it, flipped, head butted the sign on the entry to a town and crashed flat on her back, on the kerb edge.
-6 broken ribs at the back, shoulder blade, punctured lung, kidney, cardiac arrest, brain damage, internal bleeding. It's been two weeks now and she's been transferred back from specialist intensive care to our nearby major hospital intensive care.

This cycling stuff is a bit risky.
After a lengthy phone call, I never went out. Sorry. However, here's wishing Shelly a complete recovery. Take your time luv.

(I've got my gear in the car today, I may need to clear my head).

    Morning

Blisters oh bloody hell scuse my language Wishing Shelly all the  best hope she'll be alright

What: 2.54 miles Why: Birthday run - do I need a reason Last Hard: yesterday

    Lyrics Nope

Meant to do 20 minutes  had a route mapped out  thought it might take a little over 20 minutes didn't know the exact distance but 27:46 nearly 30 minutes Hopefully keep it  to 20 minutes next 2 days before my parkrun

Next week may alternate 20/30 minute runs  see how it goes Do have weight to shift but that can weight till tomorrow

yes a spelling error but its apt

  • Happy Birthday Pammie.

Thanks birks - I wasn't sure if I was making things up but thought that I could think of a couple of likely tunes.

Sorry to hear about Shelley Blisters. Hope you get your run today.

Warm here at the moment - was 20+ when I went out for my run (only time available due to rearranged work and smt this afternoon). Unlike chickadee I found it difficult to raise my HR - residual tiredness from Sunday I imagine.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Happy birthday, Pammie image

Shocking news, Blisters image. I hope your friend makes a full recovery. The internal bleeding and cardiac stuff sounds really scary ...

  • Afternoon

    What 10ish low HR
    Why engine building
Lyrics If it's about my (real) namesake then yes

Sorry to hear about your clubmate Blisters

Been rather warm and humid all day here to.

  • DustinDustin ✭✭✭

    hiya,
Blisters - sorry about yout clubmate. Even more reason for me not to ride a bike more than necessary
Pammie - many happy returns, but sorry to hear about your ex colleague
Don - typival GB team baton changing then, you've been watching the pros...
Wabo - well done, but you should be easing back now
    what - 5 easy later
why - been at sports day for the girls - eldest seemed to enjoy being games captain (she's year 10) and her house just pipped into 2nd. She won her events though (LJ, TJ, hurdles, 300m & relay) and broke the school TJ record with 10.13. Youngest won her events too (800, HJ, 4x1 & 4x2 relays) and to keep up with her sister she set a new (school) record in the 800.
    lyric - possibly

  • DonaldoDonaldo ✭✭✭

That's an impressive triple jump for a young lass!  School records for both - you must be a proud Dad!

My 100m yesterday has left my legs feeling jaded so just an easy 4 miler tonight, no time. image

  • Talented children Dustin - well done to them both.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • emzapemzap ✭✭✭

    Well done little Dustins image

Well hit 37C here today with 28C recorded in my office.  Club run was, as predicted, slow, but 5.5 miles done and found some more friendly runners image

Now desperately trying to keep cool.  Thunderstorms predicted for tomorrow.

  • alehousealehouse ✭✭✭

    Evening!

    Lyrics: no

    What: 15 mins easy
Why: should have been longer but legs didn't want to play. May have run too hard on Monday.

    Sports day sounds good, Dustin!

Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • Jasas Blisters - but for the grace of God and all that. Cycling is risky - no doubt. Hill descents are my worry - some fella's (& mot's) come down those hills toooo fast. Had a spin with my brother there a few weeks back - I beat him up the hill - so he had to descend quicker - how he didn't kill himself I don't know!!!  Oh - and he beat me to the bottom!! hope she gets better soon. A local club to me lost a member to a cycling accident a few months back!!

    Training today - you bet:

3k swim, 8 mile run, 27 miles biked.

I feel a rest day coming. I'm going later for 3 to 4 pints of Guinness for mineral replacement.

Weather today good, tomorrow good, Friday good, Saturday Shite, Sunday ok - guess which day I have to swim in the sea - mind you, it doesn't rain under water!!

  • RFJRFJ ✭✭✭

Bliddy heck Blisters thats some fall from your mate, praying for a speedy and full recovery

9.5m with club on a muggy night

    Pammie, Happy Birthday

  • Just back in from my multi-delayed run.
6.6 miles at a mind wandering pace. (8:20m/m) For Shelly.
Dustin, I have this sneaking suspicion that those youngsters of yours have been training with Dad, not for the glory of the school, BUT TO BEAT DAD. You mate, are stuffed. You should be well proud, as the teens say.

Lyrics? SImilar but not close enough.
