I've done one of the Saturday swims before, and it was fine. My last foray into OW triathlon swimming involved freakish weather, massive waves and a dose of leptospirosis. I'm cool though. It'll be grand
Bookie. I think the chances of you catching leptospirosis in Holme Pierpoint lake are pretty slim . The only thing you'll catch is perhaps a mouthful of swan poo!!
as i take in loads of water with every breathe..........hence the need to pee at least 7 times during the swim...........the news of all the swans poo isn't very welcome
What is the point of the "Big Swim" on the Saturday? Do many do it? Is it organised or just get in and swim. Won't that get my wet suit wet before the next day
It's organised and think it's just because they can use the lake on the saturday you do get a medal. The one the first yea was very cool but the one last year was a but pants.
you have to pay for the big swim as it is seperate races but there is a time on the saturday when competitors can get in and practise their last minute adjustments...........and yes there is the potential that the wetsuit will not dry in time
Hellooo Outlawers, I've been ill! Outrageous. I had a Hep A jab last Friday and it took me out. 1 whole week without a swim/bike/run, still feel tired. Anyone else felt that crap after a jab?
A whole week out though!! Talk about tapering, lol
At the half I didn't notice any swan poo flavour and I drank most of the lake. It had been churned up the previous day by the national sprint races and the day before that with the nation emergency races.
So I'm hoping it stays the same for the full, I shall be setting off right at the back if anyone wants company. Looking forwards to it now.
Is anybody else just getting fed up with it all and just wants to do it and have a rest? or is it just me, or is it just as its getting to taper time

taking coke after a swim to kill the baddies is apparantley a myth but i still always have a dietcoike straight after any open water swim and I have never ever had astomach problem......

Purpose of the Big Swim is to fill the lake up with everybodys piss.
Take some Fatboy Coke straight after the swim, apparently it kills the nasties, worked for me. Jesus that duckshite tasted rank......
