Hi everyone, been running for a little while and after turning 40 this year i was convinced i needed to do a Marathon. Being Scottish i felt the Edinburgh Marathon should be my first.
However after reading about Hols adventures i have done a MAD thing and signed up for the Wanaka Challenge, (we are visiting my girlfriends brother who rune the Lone Star in Wanaka.
Any advice tips, moments of inspiration will be most welcome. Also if their is anybody in or around the St Albans, Hertfordshire area that wants to train together that would be awesome.
Running and cycling are ok, i havent swam crawl for over 25yrs so when i got in the pool the other week, HOLY MOLY.
Got the London Tri in July then Berlin Marathon (aiming for sub 3hrs).
Thanks in anticipation and keep healthy

Triathlons are easy. Swim a bit, run a bit, bike a lot. I think Coach Barlos came up with that.
Hi Cougie
3hr 32min. To be honest did not take the training the seriously so i know i can do much better. Going to concentrate more on hills and interval training.
Also must get a turbo trainer and some fins.
sadly not Cougs - Mr Ollier came up with that one
I think I might have to do this one. I hear the calls in my head as I run. Run Wanaka I hear as I go past the local kids.
We went to NZ last year and funkin did Challenge Wanaka. If you've got a spare week or two to read, there's a whole series of blogs on our site...the link below is the race link (but there's a load of prequel posts too!). Have fun, it was such a fabulous race, funkin loved it

Everyone blames Holgs. Good luck!
Ah Mrs Funkin you're making me homesick with all this talk of Challenge Wanaka!! If I was going home next year I would seriously think about doing that or Taupo Just a heads up WB Queenstown and Wanaka are quite expensive in terms of bang for your buck. Enjoy it tho' and will look forward to a race report.
Wanaka!
Sorry just been practising for the race.
I think its a good idea.
