When running I see loads of tall people running really fast with a long stride.
Then there is me at 5 foot 5 who is trying to keep up.
Does being tall making running faster easier or not?
I like to claim it is easier for tall people because I am only 5'4. But sadly if you look at elite runners it turns out lots of them are quite short. For example, Haile Gebrselassie is 5'5. So we can't use that as an excuse.
At 5ft2 I've always had to run to keep up with people!
Damn I need to find another excuse then. Watch out for my next reason as to why i am so slow, i just need to think of it first of all.
Jenny Meadows is about 5ft nothing and she seems to do alright

If you CBA reading it all this graph is a reasonable summary:
Helps (a bit) to be tall if you're a sprinter, but long distance runners are around average height.
But the very fastest distance runners happen to be 5' 6" or less.
One reason is that smaller runners can usually handle the heat better.
🙂
Bit further away from the sun, Ric?
But we can get nearer to the sink as we have smaller feet!

If you train harder you will get faster.
