So after struggling with short achilles and shin splints and having to drop out of my local learn to run course, I finally got my legs back and completed Week 1, day 1 of Couch to 5k last night!!
This may seem like a minor achievement to some, but considering last time i tried this a few weeks ago I got 1k down the road and had to hobble back as my legs were on fire, I am on top of the world right now!
Over the last few weeks I have been doing a lot of "power walking" to get my legs (and me!) used to working harder, some days were awful and I was in agony, but others were not so bad.
So my message to anyone trying out running, keep at it, and don't give up! If I stick to plan I will be reaching 5k mid-september, so watch this space for future racing excitement.

Well done! Good luck with it, your strength and stamina will only get better the more you walk and run. The walking you have done will have helped you for certain. Once again good luck it really is a great feeling finding out you can run.
give it the 12 weeks with no injuries and you will be definitely be doing 5km. Stick with it, I did in January and it was an awesome feeling.
Week 1 complete! Day 1 of week 2 tonight, still stupidly excited about the whole thing
Week 2 Complete! Starting week 3 tonight, which ramps up to include 3 minute running, slightly scared of this!
Even though every week sounded hard I remember being genuinely terrified of the week which had the first 8 minute intervals. Try not to worry about it too much though, just go with it, its never as bad as you imagine it to be.
Well done Jenna - keep it up.
