Does anybody know or done good triathlons in London or the southeast for novices
This one is pretty newbie friendly - not too big, but big enough (1000+ ??) was fairly well organised last year, nice goodie bag! Bike is on open but quiet roads and run is off road. I'll be doing it again this year
where in the SE are you - it's a big place y'know
and what distance are you looking for??
there are lots of good novice events around - it all depends on what you want
True enough travel anywhere in Kent south east london and just starting so sprint distance
take a look at Bewl Triathlon on 11th August - Bewl Reservoir south of Tunbridge Wells. www.bewltriathlon.co.uk has sprint and standard distance
or Owler in Ashford, Kent on 4th August - is mainly aimed at 1/2IM distance but has a sprint alongside - http://www.trispiritevents.com/The-Owler-Half-Tri/The-Owler-Half-Tri-Info.html
if you fancy a sea swim, try Bexhill on 18th August - http://www.thebexhilltriathlon.co.uk/ - same team that organise Bewl
or for wider afield take a look on the Triathlon England site - http://www.triathlonengland.org/take-part/events
Ever so slightly further afield the ones humanrace organise at Dorney are very novice-friendly, if a little on the expensive side.
Hever is a well organised and really friendly one with sprint, oly and half at end of September.
Swanley is really low key but fun, missed it this year but usually early June.
Sevenoaks in April is another good sprint.
Crawley Tri club have their Late Summer Tri on 22 Sep from K2 centre in Crawley - sprint or novice. Pool swim.
