Noticed that I might well be the only member of NEWT with a goatee. What about you lot? Any goatee wearers among you? Does shaving it increase speed on the bike or streamlining for the swim?
no goatee but a chin beard (now white) - I used to have a goatee until a few years ago.
I can't say whether it slows me down or not as I've always had some chin fluff since doing tri - and frankly I can't see it would make that much difference.
Facial hair catches more weed and plankton from the water, but tends to hide the Homer Simpson look that clean shaven men (and women) can get from sediment in the water
Rule #50 // Facial hair is to be carefully regulated.
No full beards, no moustaches. Goatees are permitted only if your name starts with “Marco” and ends with “Pantani”, or if your head is intentionally or unintentionally bald. One may never shave on the morning of an important race, as it saps your virility, and you need that to kick ass.

Has taper madness bitten already DTT?
they are a weird lot at NEWTS.....
and you have to remember where I am from seren - I was born and bred in the NEWTS catchement area...
Point proven, then
Husband periodically has one - when he shaves it off he looks at least 10 years younger babyface!

Seriously. I reckon I'll be at least 15% faster on the bike if I shave it off. Buddah, I reckon you could get 7% by shaving chinny.
With some of the clumps of hair floating in the pool today, I'd have had one by the end even if I didn't have one to begin with. Euch.
