Hi there, I'd be interested in taking a spare half marathon entry if anyone has one that they can no longer use. Get in touch if you can help, I'll reimburse you your entry fee of course.
I am a spanish erasmus student in Nottingham and I will run the half marathon on Sunday. I have arrived here five days ago and I don´t know how to go to the Race Village on the Victoria Embankment. I am living in Victoria Hall accomodation in Curzon Street, near Oceana. I need help to choose which bus i have to get to go to the Race Village. thanks
Nacho - as Literatin says, its not too far at all. I'm not familiar with the exact bus you would need to get but would have thought that anything heading towards Trent Bridge/ West Bridgford would get you there.
Does anyone know how strict they are about the colour coding for the start positions? I'm aiming at 3:30 for the full marathon, but (probably because it's my first full) I've been put in the orange section, so right at the back. I'm not sure whether to get there early and try to get in near the front, or just start late and hope that the crowds have thinned out a bit.
Not very strict, I don't think. A clubmate of mine did the half in 1:29 last year following the 1:30 pacers, and he said they started right on the line rather than in the red zone where they should have been. There aren't barriers between the colour zones or anything.
Thanks. I did the half a few years ago and there weren't any zones and I assumed it would be the same (otherwise I might have made up a time for my entry form!). When I ran the Birmingham half a couple of years ago they were actually checking your number on the way into the start area.
Hi all, I'm doing this marathon as my first and hoping for 3:20 ish. I've done several 3 hour + runs and most recently have trained to get my pacing right, but I'm still fearful on the day that I'll run the first half to quickly!
Does anyone have any advice for this? I'm planning to use Mapmyrun on my phone to tell me splits, but I don't trust the accuracy of the gps in a crowded environment which the race inevitably will be, otherwise I guess the best option is to follow the 3:30 pacer for the first half at least and then push on.
Print out a pace band with the mile splits. I'm usually very non-commital about the target time and will probably be wearing half a dozen for various times, and then promptly ignore them all. About two thirds in I'll have a shuffle through the bands sighing and thinking 'well that one's gone'. Each to there own.
I used a pace band for my first two marathons, works well. Admittedly now the Garmin keeps me honest in the mid- and latter stages when otherwise I can drift off the edge
well - hope you all had as much fun as me. impressed with the organisation (except the comedy "warm up" at the start) but everything else went very smoothly. I'm looking forward to knowing my chip-time (any idea how I'll find out?) but my watch time from the start marker to finish was 1:56:06. not great but I'm thrilled as it's my first for about 15 years!
what really made my day was chatting randomly to a lass who'd entered hoping to beat 2 hours and ran 1:48. she was on top of the world and with me being really pleased too it was a happy meeting. I wish her well in her next run.
only observation i'd make is that the course was quite narrow in places (especially towards the end) and it made it quite a squeeze.

Hi Nacho, it's not actually very far to walk (a couple of miles) but you should be able to get a bus from Maid Marian Way:

Good luck
thank you very much! see you on Sunday and good luck!
Get the number 2 or number 3 bus from Beastmarket Hill, just off Old Market Square, next to Greggs. Get off the bus at Trent Bridge.
Ian Breeze - hello. Have sent you a PM re full Mara entry. Thanks

Oliver, can you not do it the old-fashioned way with a watch and the mile markers?
That's the way that I've always timed myself.
Luddites of the world unite!
Ha, yeap no doubt I could, but that starts involving a few sums as the race goes on!
Not if you pace it perfectly it doesn't!

I`ll join that union brother, along with my £12 decathlon watch! In fact I think doing some maths can be a welcome distraction at times.

My watch was £8.99 from Argos. A bit of maths on the run helps to pass the time away a bit quicker during long races.
I like to pass the time quicker by running faster.
Hello, anyone know of anyone with an unwanted entry to the Robin Hood half marathon this Sunday??
@rob yes I have. I ended up with the half because they took ages to open the full.
hi there, oh great! it would be great if I could buy it from you - how could we arrange that?? thanks
i will try to send ypu a message via the site with my mail address ok? I am there as well, so should not be a problem!

thanks to everyone who turned out to support;
I forgot my watch - d'oh! - so no idea of my time. Anyone know when the results are out?
their website says this evening but nothing yet
