So I've got the Paris Marathon coming up in April next year!
I ran London this year and I loved it but I felt woefully underprepared by mile 18, my tendons just weren't up to the job and I had to walk the last 6 miles.
I'd been following Hal Higdon's novice marathon app and it told me to start in December.
I think I'd like to start now to give myself an extra 2 months of prep. Are there any good plans / apps out there that cover 6 month training plans?

if you like that plan you can just start it early and repeat some of the weeks.
i personally like the plans on asics.co.uk
Until I start marathon specific training (12 - 16 week plan) I would be focusing on aerobic delvelopment through lots of easy paced miles, and the only speed orientated session would be farlek / tempo runs. I add in hill reps for strengthening. Get mileage up to the sort of level needed for the start of the plan and increase the number of sessions appropriately. Just build up a decent base before you start the plan, strengthen what is weak, and stretch what is a bit rusty. just make sure you are fresh at the start of the plan.
I'm thinking of doing an 8 week 10k programme and then an 18 week marathon programme...
