Whilst the question of gender-specific races is of course open to discussion, the use of words such as 'apartheid' rather over-eggs your pudding, Sussex.
maybe they could have a seperate race for all different age groups so each age group wiunner can feel like a winner.....or maybe one for sub 4 hours only so that slower people can feel like a winner
i think park run has dispelled idea that there is a need for womens only races even for the begginer distance of 5k
.by marketing right they are appealling to all....reassuring women that men aren't scary beings out to upset themmm. to have a race at any longer distance is totally pointless in my opinion.......how can you get to run longer without ever seeing a man out on the streets etc
I have spent time with teenage girls and with women......thank you and have attended lots of park runs and running club events
as you can see RFL..is now fading as women realise that they do not need to be in a race just for women..
yes its great to spend time in a group of women and race with a group of women.but you can do that in a mixed pub or in a mixed race and i think the majority of people nowadays realise this....
go and chat to those from all ages and all speeds at park runs

you have plenty of time to train for it karen
Whatever happened to Sport for All and everybody mixing together. What's with this rise in gender apartheid?

I just put in an extra egg to get a rise Peter.
I know, dear boy
all marathons should do the same.
I agree!
And six hours seems plenty to me.
As if by magic, Wilkie appears...
But you weren't first to complain. Losing your touch!
Is there anyone out there who can expalin why we need seperate sex marathons?
I can see that. Sometimes the female winner in a race feels more like a category winner than the actual winner of the race.
Women that don't have the confidence to race against both sexes. I just find that a bit sad. Sounds a bit meek and submissive.
Nothing wrong with a sex marathon Sussex

It does beg the question though - does anyone think it's wrong for the men's and women's Olympic marathon to be separate events?
On TV it's good to have the races separated as otherwise the elite women get lost in the midst of the second tier men.
Maybe that's not quite the right term.

I'm happy with illiterate if thats what I am.....there are far worse things I could be....
I actually think part of the reason interest in the RFL is on the wane is because no-one want to keep raising the money.
Nothing wrong at all Screamy.
Although I think what KK called seren wasn't called for. Yellow card for KK
