If its the exact same shoe you might ok because at least your foot a be used to the shoe, just need the shoe to get used to you. Will be interesting to see how you get on with it really. As i find as you get towards to end of your training, you need new trainers!!
Hmm its not good. The beeb are now saying rain in Dublin Monday early morning, then cloudy before rain again in the afternoon.
Done a 4 miler in new shoes and all good.felt more support and cushioned on impact as said before theyre exactly same as previous pair so fingers crossed...yesh think the wind will be southwesterly which will be on your back last 6.2 miles but running against it up crumlin road would not be ideal..

Right! Time for it to get serious - I need to finish packing and ensure that I pack everything I could possibly need for race day.
Tip for those, like me, flying in for the marathon... Wear your running shoes and pack your normal shoes, or at least inlcude them in your hand luggage. That way, if your hold baggage goes missing at least you have your trusty comfortable runners for the big day.
Let's hope the storm doesn't make it as far a Dublin.
Flying out in the morning but hope I'll still be able to get online.
Don't know where your getting your weather from - BBC and Met Eireann show that it will be 3 or 4 degrees cooler than the last week or so and less humid with mild enough winds
Seems like more cases of taper madness

Thanks adog woof and sauasage roll Shane. Yesterday I treated myself to a new pair of trainers , 5th generation of running in the same make and model , and used to running marathons in them, so hoping I will be ok. I will be walking around in them.
I fly out tomorrow, really looking forward to it and the buzz of the expo.
Weather looks like rain and windy...I hope not gusty.
Cant believe the time is nearly here!! Cant wait to get started really looking forward to Monday now! Pasta for the rest of the weekend! Good luck to everyone and those of you coming from abroad I hope you get some time to enjoy our beautiful city!
Shane is right, not much we can do about the weather other than take it on head first!!
Shea and any other Dubliners where is good for pasta in the city centre ?
I am hoping to take a few sights in each day I there otherwise i'll go stir crazy!! Plus the walking around will keep me active as I wont get to run once I arrive.
SJPC14 - There are a few Italian restaurnats behind the Jervis Shopping Centree (near O'Connell St) in an area called the Italian Quater, there are also a few in and around the Temple Bar area. Where in the city are you staying? It really depends on where you will be staying.
Shea hows the knee?? Im staying at the davenport on merrion street...any pasta joints near there?? I know where rhat italian quarter is in dublin..anywhere closer?
Evening All - was going to run tonight after work but woke up at 2am and couldnt get back to sleep ( Mind Whirring with work / race / work / race / race / work / wace / rork.... taper madness methinks ! ) So for the 3rd day on the bounce i am doing nothing......havent done that for over 6 mths !!!
Will do a cheeky little 3 miler in the morning whilst the missus goes to pilates, then i am packing and hitting the couch whilst she goes off to the rugby !
he he you ok Monty!! Sounds like a good plan to me, taking it easy and all that.
And yes it is strange when you now gaps from running after training last week. I was in shock when my training plan had last Saturday down as a rest or cross train day......strange!!
Hi Shane my knee is holding up thanks for asking, went to Physio yesterday so feel better about it now. You are staying on the south side of the city (the better side) Not too sure about good pasta restaurants over there though! You could try around Sth William St which is just off of Grafton St, there are a lot of good restaurants in this area. I do know that there is a Jamie Oliver's Italian in the Dundrum Shopping Centre but you would have to get a tram out there!
Yer I just finished watching it adog. what a great video. Certainly makes you see why we do it and If all none runners watched that, then maybe they would run it. Makes you really want to run Chicago too!!! lol
Thanks for tips Shea and glad to hear you knee is holding up a lot better. Just a few days left now. So don't worry about running, but if you do, keep it short 3-4 miles
oooh its even closer now than last time I said I was close!!! lol

I'm staying positive on the weather! It looks like we'll be better off in Ireland than what the south of England are going to get http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/world-forecasts/dublin-ireland#?tab=fiveDay&fcTime=1382918400
And anyhow...if those 29MPH winds are behind me on the home straight, I'll be a happy chap!
Dublin may just miss it (fingers crossed), but then maybe not; 2 possible tracks of 'storm' from the uk met office:
Strong winds behind us for the final 6 miles would be good!!
Who did you reavel yourself to sausageroll
