I'm looking to complete a couple of half marathons before Xmas. Got Clowne half pencilled in during November (anybody got any experience of this one?) but struggling to find anything else. Would prefer road races but open to suggestions.
Are you classing Worksop and Clowne as the north???!! I was going to give a few suggestions in the real North, ie a couple of hundred miles North of there, but not sure you'd find them!
It's short notice but Macclesfield do a good one next weekend. lancaster have a good half but not done it for years so don't know if that's changed and I beleive newcastle now have a half in dec as part of the marathon there. The marathon is a cheap and cheerful so assuming the half is along the same lines. If you just want running races for around that sort of distance you might like trying a bit of fell?
Looking at the start of next year I would check out brass monkey and liversage half's.
Bit of a shameless plug for my own event here, but if you want the real north, there is the Newcastle Racecourse half on 8 December. Also featuring a full and a 50k.

i know , Clowne is more the midlands than the north. Any suggestions you have minni are most welcome.
That's what I thought about Clowne! Though have just entered Keyworth (also in midlands) if you don't really mind about the level of northernness.
Clowne is very good so it worksop.

Not a half - but Stockport 10(mi) in Dec is very popular.
Stockport 10 is fantastic.

Bridlington Half on October 20th? £12.
Not exactly North of England, Wales in fact to be precise, but if you're based in the Lancs, Manchester, Merseyside area, the Conwy Half is superb...
