I'm doing one right now on Android App Development and have just submitted my first assessment this morning.
It took ages for the course to eventually start after I had registered. I had very little notice and it started at a bad time for me. I would prefer if the dates were set better so that I could have planned properly. However, can't really complain when it's free.
I've yet to experience the assessment marking process. I did wonder how on earth they could mark 100,000+ assessments , but it's carried out by peer review to a marking scheme. I believe that means I will be marking someone else's. I hope they realise I'm more than open to bribery
The courses look good. I will probably try one. Especially now the Open University has priced itself out of reach of a lot of potential students (government's fault, isn't it always!).

See if you can get your employer to fund some if it - mine did.
I started the Introduction to Forensic Science one with Futurelearn last week. I've not managed to do all of last week's stuff yet, but I'm hoping to catch up tonight.
Interesting, not too taxing, and about as removed from accountancy as you can get.
I moght join you on the Criminal Justice one, Screamy - looks like a good follow-on.
I just signed up for the Coursera nutrition course starting next Monday, just out of interest - and an attempt to clean up my eating habits I've downloaded the "myfitnesspal" android app for analysis (part of the first assignment).
Who knows, maybe this time I won't gain weight while marathon training.
Apparently, you're not supposed to start carbo loading three months before the marathon. Who'd a thunk it?
Tenjiso you can tell me where I going wrong too. (Think it might be that I am greedy). I like the myfitnesspal app. Tells me I am not eating enough protein too many carbs and fat hayho.
FBJB - Hah - I think the clue is in your forum name. If it was "Fueled by Mars Bars" that would probably be better. You can got into Myfitnesspal and change the targets, so another solution is to change them to Protein: 5%; Carbs (incl sugars): 65%; Fat: 30%. Problem solved!
Nessie - your simple solution is to run more marathons!
Disclaimer: I haven't started the course yet, and any advice given may be inaccurate.
Had a go at this last night. The pages can be quite difficult to read but once you get your eye in and a feel for what you're looking for it gets a bit easier.
Thank you for the "Futurelearn" link Fueled by Jellybabies - very interesting - I have just signed up to the Inside Cancer course - very thought provoking.

Never heard of it before now Toro.
I must say most of the courses look as dry as dust (to me anyway) and are a bit narrow in scope but there are a few gems.
"History of the Slave South" and "The Kennedy Half Century" look interesting.
I quite like the idea that you could say you did at course at Princeton or Yale
Yes quite and you can add to linked in as "coursework" or "FeD"

I work at a university and did a short one as a trial which I quite enjoyed it was something different. It's also worth looking at:

They also over MOOC's (Massive online open courses) form UK universities.

Thank you for that link too
Just signed up for this:

It doesn't look too taxing in terms of time but is out of my usual field which is history, so it will be interesting

Yay - study buddies!
Thanks for this. I'm going to give 'Good Brain, Bad Brain' a try in a couple of weeks.
And for any historians out there this might provide an interesting diversion:

The National Archives has digitised its collection of war diaries and needs help to clarify them.

Or continue it for 5 years after your last marathon either, Tenjiso.

thanks from me.......my youngest has just started a course with future learn as well after I saw this link....
On week 4 of the Forensic Science course, and loving it.
Not managed to keep up fully, due to sick kids, but hopefully will catch up again at the weekend.
Some of it is quite challenging (the technical stuff on DNA for example) and some of it is straightforward, but it's all really interesting.
