Just entered this one today. Will be first trail run and second half marathon. Read the reviews on events page and seems it's been bit muddy on the years past. Anyone else doing this one?
Starting from a not very good fitness base so not looking for a fast time just taking part. Only back to consistent running this month so a lot of work to do...

I am thinking of doing this, never done it before either!
Ha, this thread is popular, 1 post per month!
Zoe - have you entered yet?
I've entered but training is progressing slowly. Enjoying it though and hoping it all comes together on the day. Expecting a slower time than for my first hm though so no pressure.
Not entered yet, will have to request day off from work, is it very hilly?
What time you aiming for?
Hi Zoe. I've never done it before but profile look pretty flat.
At the moment, I'm aiming to finish, have had about 3 weeks off ill which has set me back. But I'm slow anyway.
It is a very good event with just the odd hill & the route will be muddy if the rain keeping on like this. Trail shoes are the best bet.
Thanks Cheshercat. Are you going to do it this year?
I'm going to buy some trail shoes this weekend. Never needed them before and didn't really think about it earlier. Still have 5 weeks to break them in, surely that's just about fine?
I did it two years ago and loved the course. Plenty of trail with some very muddy bits around 8 to 10 miles. Grippy trainers needed! It does not clash with a club cross country so can do this year and in memory of a club mate's brother: John Austin. So please enter and raise money for a very good cause.
Hiya, I'm in for this year! Trail shoes haven't had much action yet so should be a good introduction!
Yay, finally in the 'hot threads' section.
I have a perfect taper planned for the week before this...I'm going skiing! And as I haven't been for a few years, I'm sure my legs are gonna love me...
Just entered this. Ran portsmouth half today so feeling in the mood to try another half marathon
really looking forward to this! i'm planning a run home from work this evening to get my recently meagre mileage up. it's my first largely off road half so i'm mostly in it for the excuse of saturday night in a B&B and lunch in my favourite pub
Entered this one a while ago: it's come round quick! Just finished my last long-ish run before Sunday so can now enjoy a few days of being lazy
Not expecting a great time: managed to injure myself doing the Great South Run and had to have a few months off from running, so getting round in reasonable shape and being able to walk to a pub afterwards will be the target!
Unfortunately, this race is on the same day as the Salisbury 10 miler, which is a Hampshire Road league Race. It's a pity they had to clash.
I quite fancied the salisbury one too,
I ran 5 miles around queen Elizabeth country park wearing new trail shoes,
plan to wear trail shoes for this, never raced in them before
not done a long run since last weekend! Just want to get round
That was hot!
Hot, undulating and hilly! But I still enjoyed it
Hope you all had a good race. Unfortunately, I had my first DNS as hip flexor injury did not clear up in time. I can't walk properly let alone run. Looking to book physio tomorrow.
That's a shame, hope your better soon. Found it hard going today!
A very good race, make a pleasant to change to run in the warmth but the mile marker were out. The last 0.1 of a mile was more lke half so something went wrong there.
My garmin was out by half a mile most of the way way, after 13 miles that was definitely more than 0.1!
My legs ache today and I have done a gentle 4 mile run
Zoe, hope you are recovered for the Exbury 10k on Sunday. The course has been shortened to 5 miles, as the stretch along the shore was washed away by the floods.
I am pleased that the exbury route has been changed as at least we still get to run, all the family are looking forward to it, plan on going to the tea room after and then take my son on the train.
