I'm thinking of doing it - not entered yet, but got family and friends wanting to go back, so don't have too much of a choice, not complaining though, great race and atmosphere
2016 was the plan for me ( 25th anniversary of IM lanza so should be that extra bit special) .. but they offered me a place on next years race because of the bike course fiasco this year .. so rude not too
Give me a shout if you want a slower ride out any time, I've got a great route that's about 80 miles and is great practice for Lanza, long hills but not to steep, roads that are very straight that go on for ever
I will be doing more and more over the peaks mate. Did a nice ride over that way the other week. But always up for a ride mate, we'll sort something post Outlaw
hoping to get a flight across and support if only for the weekend, but I am so jealous, as it seems that this is the only the race that excite me now.
To the people who haven't done it, be careful the island takes hold of you and wont let go.
Race week is the best atmosphere I have ever felt, so the more time you can go for the better, we went for 1 week Wednesday to Wednesday which was fantastic but would recommend trying to get out a little earlier just to feel it starting to build, and get a couple of training rides in, even better if you can afford it get out during the winter for a training week / long weekend will give huge rewards, there are loads of places that hire road bikes (better than my road bike) at cheaper than it costs to transport yours for a training week.
If you finish this race 5 times you get an extra special big medal at the awards party(just saying)
Sorry SA, I know this won't help you, but I'm in also . I've finished it before and had a dnf due to illness, so at the minute it's 1-1. Can hardly wait for it.
Its OK SS, I have an agreement with Mrs SA that no long distance tri next year, but as its the 25th anniversary race in 2016, we will both be appearing at the start line for one of the most iconic of IM races
We stayed at Tisalaya Apartments, very nice, cheap and basic, no bar so nice and quiet, a far few other competitors also stayed their, walking distance to transition.
Don't stay at Club la santa its over the other side of the island, transition, start and finish are in Puerto Del Carmen so this is the place to be staying.
im in ... for now at least ... determined that this course will not beat me so i'm back for the third time.
with all my DNF's Its getting to the point i may just leave my stuff over there to save me keep carting it to and fro
There might be a locker at the airport you can rent longterm - might as well leave it there for 2016 too?! (so you can do it again on the 25th anniversary that is, because you're going to smash it next year!)

Sumosue. It doesn't seem to sell out as quickly as the the others. Watched this years race vid again the other night. Love the bike course
It used to, and Austria you have a window of about 10mins to get in, yet it is still open now.
Just get used to hills, heat and wind - can hardly wait - I've got my credit card at the ready to register over dinner.
Good luck with the entry.
Zakalwe-Outlaw also doing it (first race in Pirate colours as well) bring on 2015.
Enjoy, its an amazing race

So that's a proper competition for the 'hayter' cup then?
Ok, I'm in for 2015!
the island has charmed me, and I want some more of its sunny, windy and hilly goodness.
bring it on!
Nice one mate!!
we will have to sort out done rides. Have you booked accommodation yet? We are in Los jamos
Yep, booked just before I registered. We're also staying at Los Jameos Playa again as we liked it so much last time.
Did you say you were going with your kids? My lad is asking how old they are!
Yes mate family holiday to follow! Two boys will be 6 and 8 when we go
Feeling excited about it already, and it's still 10 months away
Same here, I've got two 140.6's to do before then Sure I'll be picking your brains over the coming months mate
So where would folk recommend we stay?
