  • Morning all

((((Podds)))) - sounds really rubbish.  It would serve the Head and Governors right if you were signed off indeterminately with stress given the situation.  Wonder what they'd do then!

I wondered whether GSD was something to do with a sheepdog, given the reference to Shep.  Having grown up on Blue Peter, the two were inextricably intertwined in my mind...

I had a great time in Cambridge but didn't manage to get to the chronophage, although I have done the sights on several occasions before.  Cambridge is one of my absolute fave cities so it was a lovely couple of days.

Diet and exercise have gone totally out of the window this week and next week won't be much better as I'm off to Stockholm on Monday for two days.  Work again - not glamorous globetrotting unfortunately image  And I am dreading the snow and icy pavements image

    Morning

It would appear to be weekend Eve. Hoorah.

Goodly news on the knees Noggs - and that's not easy to say

Coco - Shep was a sheepdog - collie. Petra was a  German Shepherd dog, Alsatian - the first generally works in the farming community, the other in policing, though high rates of unemployment see most reclining on sofas for much of their time nowadays and others obviously into TV work.

Westie - hope the scales are kind

    ((((Podds))))

    Happy not long now workers

  • Lol DL. Love the dog's job descriptions image

Sorry I am unable to type long posts but I am keeping up with all the news and send Waister vibes where needed ~~~~~~~~~~~~

    And these also ((((((((())))))))))

Its quiet here without our chums. Holly does want to move back here but lots to organize with a job, flat, school etc so it will take some time. Property is more expensive here so that is another consideration. We shall just have to wait and see if it's possible.

I am back to hospital next Tuesday for another x ray and to see if hand needs a bit of intervention with the fixing. I am hoping not and that it will have an uneventful recovery. It has been sore while our visitors were here but better yesterday when I wasn't doing so much. I think that tells me something.......
  • Chuggs, I love the clockimage what a wonderful invention
  • Afternoon,

Westie, it's good to hear that Tony is settling in well. I certainly think you have made the right decision in not driving far at the moment.

(((Podds))) would serve them right if you did succumb to something.

(((Larry))) I do hope that the hand heals well without intervention.

(((Tubs))), we are thinking of you.

LOL DL, I love that doggie description image

Thank you for the vibes for TM, it turned out that today's appt was only for a consultation, he goes under the knife next week. Probably.

Chuggy MIL's bone scan is to try and find out what is causing her back pain. TBH, I don't really know why they are bothering as they have already decided not to investigate the exact nature of the potential cancer somewhere in her pelvis. The possibilities are arthritis, osteoporosis or spinal secondaries - but I wouldn't expect them to do anything other than treat the pain, whatever the scan shows!

It's another cold day with a bright blue sky and some of the street lights were off when I drove to aquagym this morning. Winter is loosening it's grip on us, thank dog!

    WAIST well xxx

  • Afternoon All

Sadly today was much much worse - not better - at school.........

I am so discouraged and dispirited I really don't know what to do.....

Sorry to be a miserable cow

At least it's the weekend and tomorrow I am going up to the Big Smoke to swim in the Olympic pool with some tri club mates which will be a bit different image

  • (((Podds))) you are not a miserable cow! It really does sound as if 'crunch time' is coming, one way or another.

I have just had a call from my cousin; my aunt died in the early hours of this morning. She was not in any pain or distress, she just went to sleep - isn't that how we would all like to go? SM didn't sound too bothered, said she is OK.

  • Slugs, sad news about your aunt.  But hopefully you can celebrate a life well lived.

Good luck Larry, hope you can get fettled soon.

Podds, you're not moany, you've always told us that you're dumped upon you.  I for one have always winced at your workload. Make sure you take care of yourself.

  • ((((Podds))))) your London swim sounds like a great antidote to the awful week you have had

Sluggy - sad for your loss of your aunt but glad she went so peacefully.

Thanks Noggs. Hopefully just a change of the plaster and a look at the lacerations and that will be all that's needed.

I also have the hip specialist appointment on that day. Gonna be good as new soon!!
  • Hello

    rugby image

    back in in a mo!

  • (((((((Sluggy family))))))) - absolutely the way we'd all want to go - peacefully and in no pain or discomfort.  As was said above - I hope you can celebrate her life.

Podds - enjoy!!  I really want to do swim there - do let us know what it's like image

Major shenanigans at work with someone in my department - can't give details here but it's all fun and games of the worst kind image

  • There seems to be more than enough work woes going round at the moment ... I vote we all take a week off image

have been on two short (and busy) late shifts and followed today by joint emergency services training which was very good and the first time we have done a training day together

tomorrow I will do the FGO and then I have cross country league in MK in the afternoon, zip home to SSS and then back to MK for a night on the town ... I won't have much time in between so don't fire up the WAISTer bus til at least sunday

then Tuesday is Royal Albert Hall day so I may go back to work for a rest on Wednesday !!

Morning all. Frosty and cold here, just been out in the garden filling bird feeders and pouring hot water to melt the birdbath. (Read somewhere that they especially need to preen in water when it's cold to preserve the insulating effect of their down. Don't know if it's true, but no harm in keeping the birdbath unfrozen!)

Sluggie, amazing that the shopping centre wasn't mobbed, in this weather! A covered over place to wander and shop sounds like a no-brainer; but nice you didn't have to fight crowds. How's MS feeling now?

Nogs, you are always so positive! As you said, a silver lining to not being able to ski this year will be having a super-fettled bike imageimage And it must be really important for HL to get out of the house as often as she can so she doesn't get cabin fever image

(((Coco))) Sorry the lurgy is lurking again---a bit of time out of the office is probably a nice change. Where in Cambridge are you?

(((Onesie))) Really hope you don't get the awful sinus thingy that DL has---take care of yourself! And whatever will help your grand-nephew most, I really hope he gets it. Kids are very pliable and such a lot can be done to help almost anything, if they start early.

Dragon, no apologies please!! You have your hands full already at the mo, and not loading yourself with Jantastic this year is absolutely the right call. A model to us all in the appropriate allocation of time. As to a dog---do it! Hope it will be a rescue, there are so many lovely animals desperately needing a good home.

Spacey, I guess you are NR with a new name? Sounds like you and your dad have different aspirations, which is just fine. Generally reckoned that you need distance even if you want some speed, but that you have to build up in that order, i.e. distance first, then speed. Meldy can advise. The main thing is to do what you want to, and what you sensibly can. If you go beyond your limits, you actually go backwards.

Finally dry here, so some cycling around the place and a long walk with Monty, I hope (clouds are forming ominously as I write...). Stupid tendon has FINALLY healed, so starting to think about chugging again...

Oh, and happy birthday to C3 today imageimage  We have a small family, and his birth was the first time in 150- years there were two boys in the same generation. Mr C's dad was over the moon---made me feel like a Heroic Mother of the Fatherland! image

    Afternoon,

Aww Larry, I'm sorry that Holly and Stanley have to go home soon, I bet you have loved having them with you. I do hope that hand isn't giving you much pain.

Westie, it's always good to see you. I'm glad that you have not suffered from a lot of the white stuff. I totally agree with your putting the heating on and worry about the bills later, being constantly cold is not healthy.

Daffs, that's a lovely photo, it really made me image

Onesie, I do hope the vetting goes/has gone well. I adore GSDs, possibly my fave breed.

Dragon, you have earned the right exercise when and where you want.Forget Jantastic and do what you enjoy. As for

  • 'It's all gone quiet over there'  I reckon Spence.  That was some come back.

    Morning each.

Some drama in NZ, the jnr's neighbours tried felling a  tree which brought down an overhead power cable, causing a fire which destroyed a lot of grassland and meant the jnr and family had to move their horses, cattle, sheep etc a bit sharpish.  No injuries or buildings damaged.

My bike is back in its rightful place and just needs me to replace the pedals.

Anyone parkrunning, racing or plodding today?

    Edited to remove gibberish

  • Sounds a bit dramatic Nogs! Good to hear that they are all okay, but scary stuff.

I've had a long run in the cold sunshine today (sheltered and sunny spots you could feel a bit of warmth). New Brighton was packed with twitchers! I went past a line of about 50 of them near the sailing lake where a rare American Laughing Gull was seen last week. Mr P cycled past another bunch a mile further along near where the Mersey meets the Irish Sea.

  • So On Friday did intense core work some strength exercises for runners for quads etc and arms/back did a slow 10 mins on the eliptical covering 0.7 miles.

  • Pardon my ignorance but what is a twitcher? It's not some poor unfortunate soul with some uncontrollable tic where they sort of twicth there muscles? I hope not!

I signed up for park run. I fancy doing one in AYR which is sort of local to me but its dead early so I will need my little sis to let me get some good sleep which doesn't always happen. Its such a shame for my parents more than it is for me, although lets just say it makes things a bit harder for me too than they should be but really I wont always have to deal with it but my parents will. I think I will do one in 2 or 3 weeks, is it ok to say you are going then not go? Will they let you go the next week if you have done it 2 or 3 times? Because sometimes I wont be able to get up when things dont go to plan at home as regards getting some sleep in, but I have to book them as if I would be able to go!

  • /members/images/425166/Gallery/Donna_1st_day__7th_Feb_2015.jpg

There you go.  This is Donna.  Totally adorable.

  • Welcome Donna image

How's she settling in so far?

Can I just say (on a completely different topic...) that the Olympic pool is the mutt's nuts......... imageimage

Didn't make me swim very fast but a highly enjoyable day out with training included - not a bad Saturday at all imageimage

Tomorrow is marshalling........hoping for temps up and wind down image

  • Awww, Podds, so glad the Olympic pool was worth the journey. That, and marshalling tomorrow, should help blow away the week's detritus. Hope next week will be better!

Onesie, Donna really is completely adorable! What a lovely face. She looks a lot like our Rossie did. How old is she? Know anything about her past?

Pippi,, love the idea of you prancing elegantly along a row of twichers, all of whom are ignoring you! image (Spacie, a twicher is a bird-watcher. And it does sound like home with your sister around is not a wholly relaxing place, alas. )

Meldy, that's a whirlwind weekend, for sure! And what, pray tell, are you doing in the Albert Hall? Performing special coordinated emergency drills, to the admiration of a vast audience?

(((Coco))) Office politics are totally horrid. Hope you managed to deal with it. Yes, I love Cambridge too; but it sounds like the proverbial flying visit. Hope Scandinavia is a bit more relaxed: even if it's cold, somehow they are prepared and take it in their stride. I went to Copenhagen with C1 in the depths of winter and had a great time, hope you do too.

Sluggie, if they are proposing not to treat anything, it is indeed strange that they should do a scan. Perhaps it's just for reassurance that they know everything that's going on. And I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt. But as you said, that' was the nicest way to go, gently and without any fear or disruption.

Westie, so glad to hear that Tony's job is working out; and he is being very sensible about his eyes (with the help of his dad, I think!). It's a shame you weren't able to do the trail run this time, but with the spring coming there will for sure be better opportunities to train and plenty of events.

Nogs, that's good news indeed about the knee. Should leave you in a good position for the whole of the summer season. But a bit worrying about that fire in NZ. Are they having the same drought there that Australia is?

Larry, yes, I love the chronophage too. Some people think it's awful, but I've found it fascinating and beautiful ever since I first saw the video of it. And good news that Holly will be moving closer to you. Even if it takes w while to organise it all, it will give her something to look forward to, and you too of course. Lots of vibes for Tuesday: hope they find the hand healing well, and nothing wrong with the hip.

Been going to bed way too late this week, so I need to get up the wooden hill now. Sleep tight all. xxx

  • Evening,

    Sleep well Chuggy.

Noggy, the events in NZ sound very alarming, I'm glad no-one was hurt.

    Awww, Donna looks adorable!

Podds, I'm glad that you have had some fun this weekend, it was well deserved.

My nephew is going to Australia, probably for 12 months, later this month so his mum had a party for him this evening. SB has come down from London for the event (there's just 4 months between them and they were very close as little children) and we (MS, SIL and I) looked in for a while. We left SB there to come home later.

Sorry, I can't remember anything that anyone has said image.

  • Morning team.

A lovely sunny morning here.  Penny needs me to drive her to church, whilst she's there I'll be turboing.  I started my comeback yesterday with a gentle turbo spin. Tomorrow will be a road ride.

Did I mention here that I should have my surgery by or before early April?  I need to get my legs in good shape by then.  Also Penny should be independent soon.

    Happy Sunday everyone.

Hope the turbot goes well, noggs. You couldn't make up the story of the tree felling starting a fire. Good to hear no one was hurt

TGB, the beauty of park run is that you just turn up and run. No need to tell anyone if you're not going either.

Podds, can you divvy your work out to the WAISTers. If we all do a little bit it would helpimage

    Oooh, onesie, bless Donnaimage

    ((((Tubbs))))

Well done on getting FC6 into school, DL. Its OH I feel sorry for if she has to watch daytime TV!

Pippi, love the sound of you giggling gull pippi. The park run area had about5 twitchers with their monoculars n tripods yesterday. Its SSI but I cycled by n didn't ask what they were looking for.

Life here ok. College asked me to see them this Tues. No 1 is disengaged. Same at home. Cold cycle yesterday, 9 miles along the prom in glorious sunshine the morning n teens still in bed when I returned.

Enjoy your busy weekend, m....eldy. I'm a bit disappointed I can't scramble the Poliss helicopter for you though

  • Cooeee.

My turbo turned into a road ride for reasons too boring to mention.  It was short but bloody good.

No Giggling Gulls or Chortling Chuffs here.

  • Afternoon,

(((Yummy))) how old is No1 now?

Well turboted Noggy. I admire the fact that you can put the miles in without dieing if boredom!

Podds, Yumms has the right idea. give us all a few things to do and your job will be finished in no time...

(((Tubs))) Thinking of you and hoping that things are going well.

I have my appointment through for my gastroscope. I actually hope they find something because if they don't we may have to consider looking from the other end image.

Sb and I went out for coffee, then I took him down to the quay where he was meeting some mates. He's going directly to the station from here, so that's it for this visit. We are going up on Friday though, so we will soon see him again. He's doing OK, just keeping his head down and getting on with work etc.
