I was 3.28.49. Had some pretty nasty business with a calf strain that flared up from about the 5 mile point but thankfully managed to channel Malcs from Paris 2014 and keep plugging away. Great experience. Few issues now but wouldn't have any other way
Massive Congratulations to Supermanruns and Supersense for smashing sub3:30 out of the park!!! Amazing achievements... Hope you'll both be celebrating in style tonight!
YOU DID IT!!! Well done Tim and Sense too, sub 3:30 for both of you (and you also both beat my 3:29 time, grrrr!!) Bask in the glory and enjoy the celebrations.
Big round of applause to Superman Tim, Sense and all other marathon finshers today. Till i finish my first next week and join the club respect to you all.
Hope it was not as windy for you as here. Steady run of 10 miles @ 8.05.Try my gel belt out this weekend. Bit loose at first ok today. New socks felt lovely. Looking forward to next week.
Great running by everyone [except me] by all accounts.
Hey to you BK CAnter. Was great to put a face to the name. Congratulations on your sub 3:30. It's a shame we didn't find the 3:30 pacer as I might have run a more even pace if we had. I was swept along too fast for the first 15 miles and then crashed and burned. If only I listened to my own advice!!! Agonising last 6 miles to finish in 3:36:38. Still a respectable time and I am not too disappointed, just annoyed with my rubbish tactics. Lesson learnt, I hope!
Not seen the times from Paris but gather they are fairly impressive.
Great result BK well done! Mission accomplished. Well done to you too Fairyclogs. You know where you went wrong, you'll be doubly determined and prepared to get that 3.30 next time!
Thanks Gingermagic. I have a 3:28:40 PB from Brighton last year so the box is thankfully already ticked. Anything under 3:30 would be a welcome bonus but not a burning ambition. Will see what happens in London in 2 weeks.
Struggling for phone signal or wifi on holiday so only just caught up. I haven't been able to see Tim's time but realise from the comments he must have smashed it so huge congratulations
Also to Sense and BK - brilliant.
Fairy logs still a great time and you don't seem too down about it. Well done for getting through it when the wheels fell off!
You all must have had better weather than it was here in Cumbria - ran 15 miles in rain and snow with a biting wind. Cold doesn't come close to how I felt! Still, got the job done and hopefully I'll have some better conditions for the rest of the week.
I will be back later with my race report, weekend report but I wanted to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who has taken the time to be part of this thread and my journey to sub 3-30. You have all, inspired me, helped me, encouraged me, supported me, and this was a journey I am not sure I could have done on my own.
And now I am about to enjoy a big big breakfast, which will just top up the massive steak frites I polished off last night.
And congratulations to all of you who ran Paris / Brighton yesterday, i will catch up with performances later but I sensing some PB klaxons are sounding.....
I'm always awake early the day after a marathon! A combination of pain and excitement, oh, and messed up hydration due to drinking beer and not milk and water for recovery
WELL DONE TIM!!!! Looking forward to the race report! It was a hot day out there (least it was in sunny Colchester) so really interested to know if that affected you and to see how you coped!
Super - fantastic result, even more so given the compromised build up - very exciting to think what you can do from here. Not worth dwelling on now though, just delight in finally getting there after all the previous attempts. Brilliant & very very happy for you

Soups - can't wait for the write up!
Fantastic, well done Superman
Congratulations Tim, a fantastic achievement considering you spent some time on the injury bench
