Dragon's Back 2015
hi. Just curious anyone on here doing the Dragon's Back this year?
if so how's your training going?
It's same time as the Thames Path 250 so I guess a busy time for very long distance runners

Training has just been lots of big, long days in the hills and mountains. Most of my weekends involve 10-12 hours of plodding up and down big hills, I've included some races e.g. Fellsman, Transylvania 100km, the Might Contain Nuts events to mix-it-up a bit.
I've got no problem with 1-2 days, but no idea how 5 days will affect me. That and the navigational aspect are my biggest worries. But I'm going in to complete and not compete, so slow and steady is fine - even if I have to walk/hike the majority of it.
Compared to some of my other big adventures, (Bear 100, Tahoe 200 and even the NDW100) I've probably not thought about it as much, however I've started to look at kit in the last couple of days and realised I probably need to start getting my act together soon!

Training has gone really well for me and I've done absolutely as much as I can without detracting too much from 'normal' life. I've done a few 30-45 mile ultras as well as a bunch of long training runs (28-56 miles). I've kept back-to-back-to-back-to-backs fairly short (10 miles), fairly lumpy (2000ft) and fairly quick (9-9.30's) so I can build up enough fatigue resistance without completely alienating the family. Also done a fair bit of work with a 75lb bergan.
So, the hay is in the barn; the next 3 weeks are all about squaring my kit away and pouring over the maps. I would have loved to recce the course a bit but that's a luxury I don't have.
