Hey all, I'm eyeing this inaugural event in Guildford as my first foray into ultras.
So far I have done 2 full marathons and would likely do a 3rd in the buildup to this event, although I have done two 24hr solo skate races too, so not a stranger to ultra events.
I will train as I have for the last couple of years using primarily Maffetone principles.

'Half ultra'!
Well they are saying the 54km is ultra so it's half that distance and around 17m doesn't really trip of the tongue for the short distance
*their* ultra is 54km so it's half that fair enough
yea, half-ultra is bit of a misnomer. Still, as a first-time event I think you can probably cut them a little slack
I did an "ultra half marathon" a couple of years back - a special edition of the Midsummer Munro, 16 miles up and down Box Hill in Surrey.
This event seems interesting. And Loseley Park is a nice place.
love the ice cream from there. It's about 5 miles from my dads house. So quite tempting.
I'm doing this - my first ultra too. Feeling slightly under-prepared at the moment !
So this is happening this weekend.
I'm signed up for the 81km and absolutely bricking it! Most challenging run I have done so far is the Farnham Pilgrim marathon just last month, which kicked my ass.
Good Luck,
Tell us how it goes. Take it slow n steady, it's not a sprint
