Thanks SpaRunner, just hoping they all arrive before I go on holiday, don't want them hanging out the letter box for 3 weeks, lol
Thanks too Millsy, already in for 2016, but this is contingency plan for 2017, heard Paris is a goody, managed Amsterdam twice, easy to enter, nice and flat, very nice people, but it's being able to get the time off work , London is only a day, further afield and time is a big consideration, unfortunately, roll on retirement, ha ha,
half of the rejections are coming out by email. And they gave the date they'd start sending stuff out as today. So theoretically, some of us could get rejection emails any time now?
Halstead is a great spring marathon too. Am hoping to do it as well as London this year.
Has anyone got the Im in mag yet? If so could you post up the link for payment? You can usually find out quicker if you are in or not by going to that page.
Presumably, if you didn't bequeath then checking your bank account to see if money has been debited is another way of finding out if you are in or not?
I'm expecting a 'Sorry' so that I have a matching pair of magazines. That said I secured a charity place last year. It's a tough one to get into so I have a list of alternatives if required.
Surely the whole point of getting in through the ballot is that you don't have to dress up like a bumble bee?
I think the message there is, develop strange superhero-like powers and you can run quick enough not to bother with the ballot again. Not that I'm accusing Marders of deliberately injecting himself with the venom of a radioactive spider or anything.
"For the first time this year, we are trialling an e-zine version of the Commiserations magazine. A random selection of approximately 50 per cent of unsuccessful applicants are sent the Commiserations magazine and the remainder are sent the e-zine version. Overseas applicants will be contacted via email."
No rejection email for me.Im so unlucky in these ballots that I can't win a 50/50 chance of receiving my rejection straight away,I'll have to wait on the postie I think
As mentioned earlier Brighton and Manchester are both brilliant. Brighton had a better course atmosphere than London, more personal shouts from the crowd and Manchester is faster and the crowds were really funny. Favourite hand held sign at Manchester was one saying "You are the slowest so far!"

Curious. I wonder how that fits in with the rejections who are getting a jacket. I assumed those folk would be guaranteed a physical mag as normal. Perhaps not!
Something else caught my eye that goes against an often speculated theory regarding the ballot selection:
"Just like the National Lottery, it is a totally random ballot with no weighting. It is simply the luck of the draw."
That's interesting because it's always been speculated that the ballot was weighted evenly across the predicted finish times to prevent bottle necks. That would appear to put an end to that.
Also the “How many people entered the ballot this year and what was the chance of gaining a place?” answer is misleading to quote 50,000 places when surely that includes a large number of golden bond places and has no direct relation to the ballot chances?

You should find out by the end of next week
Good luck
Other marathons are available if you don't get in. I'd highly recommend Paris as an alternative.

Good luck to everyone, fingers crossed
I did Brighton this year, which was a great alternative to London.

I received my rejection mag in the post today.
I'll be doing Manchester then.
Good luck to everyone especially to the people who have been unlucky a lot of times.

I think you have to enter your details on the payment page to confirm your place
Ah yes, I remember that I didn't need to provide payment details at the time of entering so little chance of finding out if I am in! Thanks.
Andrew that trick doesn't seem to be working this year. Those which have worked in the past are

or

Rather than opening it up early like previous years it seems they are not opening it until the 12th.
Sorry = spiderman
You're in = bumble bee

I realised this morning that I've moved house since I applied, so I'm hoping my old housemate will let me know if the mag comes.

I've entered Brighton and I'm all booked up for hotel etc.. Didn't want to do London anyway! .... .
Not had a mag arrive yet though..... with the new system I'm certainly not expecting anything, they must have printed a lot more magazines this year..
Just had my yearly rejection magazine through the door.
biko..probably why they are trialiing rejection emails this year for half the rejected
Good point!
Not sure how I can angrily throw an e-mail into the recycling bin though. I may have to print it out first

Do the other half get an email telling them that they've been rejected from the rejection email trial?
Talk about kicking them while they're down...

Over about 6 days... The bulk that is.

London isn't the only option

Sorry.. I'll stop being picky now!!
I dont believe that its random..........they have always said that but someone actually admitted on here that it wasnt
