thanks trigger2, remembering all the detail when i first ran London. done Southend half marathon earlier this year in 1.59 and doing Brentwood half in March 16, good warm up for the main event.
Yes Millsy. You have to go to race registration at the ExCel in fancy dress on the weds 20th at 11am.
I've got two mags today. One says "YOUR IN!" the other says "SORRY"
Been on the phone to them and they have said I'm IN and just forget the other one.
They didn't give me a choice! They had a look on the computer and said "congratulations your in good luck"
Did my first London marathon in 2007 and it was all about finishing it,(I did) which I'm sure most people have at the top of the list. This time I can enjoy it.
I recived my annual "We regret that we have to advise you that your application to run in the 2016 Virgin Money London Marathon has not been successful" email today. It has to be pointed out that I´m in the overseas ballot though.
Anyway, I didn´t expect anything else to be honest. Probably do Barcelona instead, or maybe Rotterdam or Hamburg. Can recommend those of you who didn´t get a place to do Paris. It´s a great event.
I got my rejection magazine - page 37 doesn't mention anything about entry on the day in fancy dress. Does anyone know where I can find more information about that, please? I think the other half has got in (he applied, no rejection mag for him, am expecting "You're In" mag to come tomorrow) and it'd be fantastic to run it together, even if it means camping out for a night or two....
Victoria have you tried turning the page 37 upside down? Heard for some people they have to get into their fancy dress outfits befre they have special powers to see it.
Nothing for me yet either - starting to think I may be included in the 50% that get rejected by e-mail. As far as I know, the e-mails haven't been sent out - I'm guessing they want the postal magazines to go out first?
My first time entering the ballot and got a place! Feel a bit of a fraud considering some people are entering the ballot year on year and not getting in this will be my second marathon, first was Brighton last year. Hoping for Sub 4:30 secretly but will be happy with anything sub 5. Good luck to those of you running, I'll see you there! x
My bumble bee mag arrived yesterday - first time of entering and got in ! Feel really guilty about those who have been trying for years.
But, it's spurred me into going for a gentle run (the first in quite a while due to injury) today to celebrate, then I'm going to spend the afternoon devising the training programme. It will be my first marathon - I had to pull out of Milton Keynes this year after tearing a hamstring playing hockey, but I did stagger round the Colchester half (without really being fully recovered from the hamstring injury). I've been well rested since then !
I wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't London. Can't wait, such a privilege to get a place !

That was my thought exactly! Someone was talking to me about how they'd applied nine times and had never got in - when I told him I'd got in on my first go I thought he might explode!!
Well, I received my magazine in the post yesterday morning, and I'm IN. Third time of entering. My wife has yet to receive her magazine - or e-mail...
As a 30-40 year old male with an estimated finishing time of 4-430hr I thought my application would be first into the bin. Did not expect this as I have an entry for Brighton plus hotel that I will probably cancel now. London is just far more convenient for me as I can get there and back in a day quite easily.
It'll be my first marathon, but I'm due to do my 11th half this weekend so it's long overdue really, and I already had Brighton booked so I don't have the initial terror of 26.2 miles - as I'd already agreed to do that when I entered Brighton.

Ah right - I take it that I've missed some long-running joke! Did check it wasn't April 1st....
Here's hoping I get to be a supporter at mile 17 rather than having to run the @??$$& thing - much more fun!!

I received mine yesterday. I got in so may see you again at mile 17 Bear.
Does anyone know if I can run with my dog ?
You can run dressed as your dog (see page 37)

Rosie, what did you put for your predicted finish time?
I can't quite remember now, I think somewhere around 4:45?

just got my rejection email - and I'm not overseas!
feel honoured to be one of the 50% to get rejected this way! Not!
have entered ballot a number of times now without success - but not sure if 5 times or more - is there anyway of finding out?
That was my thought exactly! Someone was talking to me about how they'd applied nine times and had never got in - when I told him I'd got in on my first go I thought he might explode!!
Andrew- they grandfathered, then retired the '5 times in a row and you're in' rule some years ago so your question is moot.

Just received e-mail saying I was unsuccessful. Few others saying the same so check your inboxes if you haven't found out already
