people here insulting

Hello I wanted to post this here because I want to clear the air.

I am 24 years old. I have struggled with dyslexia since I was young. I went to a Language unit school before I went to primary school.

I was diagnosed with SLI Specific Language Impairment which make it hard for me in socialising and difficulties with general life. I get on with life.

I go to work im the one making jokes I dont look at my disability as a downside.

My grammar is not perfect a 10 year old has better grammar than me but I try, I came on here to ask for help in running because I am a noob at this.

I always receive comments which I feel are unnecessary when I have numerous of times stated my issues and why my grammar is such.

I feel like leaving this forum I was thinking maybe members here were nice and not judgemental I wont name names because I wont go low but you know who you are you can laugh at me its ok.

Asrar, if you want to improve your language skills to the point that you can effectively and precisely communicate via the written word, both socially and professionally, then I respectively and kindly suggest that you slow down and take time to read and correct your posts before submitting them. This will give you greater control of language and leave you less vulnerable to criticism. And you need to understand that humour is difficult to interpret without vocal intonation, so just accept that most comments on RW are tongue in cheek.
Now crack on with that C25k programme and just blame the cat for the stink coming from your wet shoes.

  • I suppose the good thing about forums is that they are blind and people respond to the text and not by race, colour or creed. You are what you say and people judge you on that alone. Can't imagine what you said but people are morely likely to give prickly comments for other reasons than your grammar is not perfect. What was the thread title?

Just pasting my reply to your Puddle thread here as being accused of bullying seems a trifle over the top, but just my opinion.

'this is a public forum, filled with experienced runners, with a well-devloped sense of "Humour", which may not always come across well in the written word.

    So, a thread about puddles;

some of us are very experienced trail runners, who, when faced with instructions such as "Xriver" do just that. We jump into the river and cross it, hopefully no more than knee deep and we don't fall over. Or we run the Tough Guy, chest deep in freezing water and then have to duck under obstacles.

From our point of view its an amusing thread from a self-professed Noob, so we reply somewhat with tongue-in-cheek, but its not a serious thread from our point of view, so we don't reply seriously, Sorry.

And sorry you didn't pass the written test so never took the beep test, best of luck when you try again, as you willl, Im sure.

But don't take the comments to your (numerous) threads seriously, better than being ignored?'
  • OOh if you think they are rude on here - just wait until you get out on the beat ! image
  • I don't think it's your problems with language that cause the hilarity, Asrar. I think it's the content.

Interested parties can look at your posting history, and judge for themselves.

thats one of the comments I deleted the name. The title of the thread was running in the rain. here is the link

Seriously Asrar, you must NOT step in the puddles. Ever. Don't ask why, just accept the wisdom of your elders and do as you're told.
No, you yourself cannot dry them and get the damp smell out of them; they are puddles and by definition are wet and smell damp. Or was that another example of your lazy use of written language?

    Snigger.

There is no need to apologise its all good I overacted.

    Lol

  • At the risk of being a bully,  you're overacting? A bit like a bad actor does?

Being serious for a moment, I don't doubt that there are real bullies on here, as there are on every online forum. Something happens to some people online - the fact that the people they are 'talking' to are not actually in front of them emboldens them to be crude, argumentative, sexist, misogynistic, racists, all sorts of 'isms'. They have the problem, not you. However, it is difficult to separate the well-intentioned bits of humour from the truly nasty. And people with stupid views sometimes deserve to be ridiculed (though of course stupidity, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder). I think, perversely, as the ease of contributing to discourse on anything improves, the quality of that discourse inevitably declines. It's the way it is. Some things are beyond the pale, many others are in some sort of grey area. You have to decide for yourself which are which and, well, just carry on being you. Good luck with that, and sorry to hear about the problems you've had.

  • A very PC reply from PC to the wannabe PC.

You drink way too much. I mean that in the most humorous way possible, Phil

  • But it's Christmas!

  • Trouble with some people is they have no minds of their own and just join in the bullying rather than try to do what is right.

    This.

It is the actual questions, not the way you ask them. For a grown man, especially one with ambitions to become a police officer, they do come across as a bit silly and lacking in common sense to be perfectly frank. Hence the ribbing.

What kattefjaes and screams have said.

But also, I can't make head nor tail of some of the posts. I am not a grammar pedant by any means and can quite happily cope even if you ignore all normal sentence structure and don't actually bother with punctuation.

What I find funny is the asking of daft questions shortly after the pubs close and not bothering to read it back to ensure it makes sense, which you obviously manage to do during the day as your daytime post are much easier to decipher.

It's not the grandma, spellz, punctuation that was the problem with that thread, it's coming onto a forum that has some real hardcore runners, and saying you're worried by puddles!

    Come on son!

There should be a dedicated insult thread.

Go fuck yourself Dave, and a happy new year.
  • Oh fuck off the lot of you.

  • Thanks for replying that stayed as the last post for far to long.

  • I have reviewed your posts Asrar and I think you post a lot of amusing drivel.  Please do not stop...

Are you related to Lonestar or Blatchcorn?

And if you really want the piss taken out of you I suggest that you take a photograph of yourself on a bike and post it on TriTalk and ask for comments about your set up.  In between the comments about your wall/ fence/ lack of weeding/ cleaning/ state of your garage there may be a helpful comment or ten about your set up.

Who cares, I'm in it for the medal!

  • Nobody has mentioned which is the best brand of washing machine yet...

...or is that the sub 2:45 thread?... (Look it up, you'll find it labelled "sub 3")

    ...anyway..

if you stay around long enough you'll find that you drop yourself in the doo dah deep enough that you can't smell roses if you tried. There are two important buttons on your computer. The important one labelled "delete", and the dangerous one "submit".

  • Do you reckon I could do another 196 posts before midnight?
