You could try the whitening stuff they use for 'net' curtains. No idea if it will do the job but it is safer than bleach and works ok on white polyester 'Nets'.
To be honest once whites discolour (for any reason) it is nigh on impossible to restore them. You might have a slight chance with bleach if it is white cotton but a tech top - no chance I'm afraid.
The tattier, mankier and murkier a running top is, the better. It's the blood, mud, sweat and drool and snot stains on it that mark you out as a real runner.

Read some positive stuff about white wine vinegar, so I thought I'd give it a go.
This is probably a stupid question though - is white malt vinegar the same stuff? They had this in Morrison's, but not the wine one.

Vanish gold is good stuff/.... use it on my sons jodphurs......but be careful with the bottle as the liquid is a bit leathal....
