Hello , just done my first ultra of 32.5 mile a cpl of weeks ago , wasn't flat but wasn't exactly mountainous and took it generally easy as it was my first big distance and have only raced road half marathons before so I wasn't sure about pacing , but I have my 2nd race of 42 miles in 2 weeks and not sure whether I keep up the long distances in training or use the 32.5 as my last big training run. Any advice would be appreciated as I'm not sure which way to go about it , thanks

I wouldn't do any very long runs now before your second race - a few shorter, faster runs will probably be as much use as anything else. You want to give your legs a bit of a rest and go into it fresh. Is it Brecon to Cardiff, by any chance?
Taper- and maybe do a little hillwalking practice if it's a hilly route, and you aren't an elite who is going to run all the way!
Doing it this year, haven't done it before. Running it with a friend who knows parts of the route - apparently we can expect some uphill at the start
Ran the " uphill " bit last Sunday, its more of a gradual slope, really not something to be concerned about .
How did you get on yesterday cpb2507? It was a good bit wetter than I was expecting, it's very unusual for me to wear a jacket for a whole race. And I'm very glad I had someone with me who knew the route or I'd still be staggering around Pontypridd somewhere, but a good event I thought with some great scenery. And what's not to like about a race where you see a wee steam train?
